MOBAs Game Review and The Best of the Type
Welcome everyone, after a small absence from steemit i am back, and in today's article we are going to explore a few of the best MOBA games that are out there and what they have to offer. I have to say that if your favorite game is not in the list it is not that it is not good enough, i just haven't tried (yet) or it is out of my radar, as every review this one too is only about games that i have personally tried.

First look in MOBA type
What is a MOBA? MOBA stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. So as you can understand it is a competitive based game. The genaral idea is to do better than the enemy team in what the game asks. It might be a deathmatch which means you have to kill the enemy team more times than they are to kill you and your team, or destroy their base, or capture their base. All MOBAs are offering a great variety of units that you are using. You have to choose a Char or a unit or a champion, whatever, and be good to your position. Positions are the job of each individual player, for instance if you are support in most MOBAs you are supposed to protect your late game allies and supply your team with vision. For all the MOBAs of my list i am going to give some explanations in order for you to understand what every position has to do and what can t offer. So with no more delay let us see the games that i choose as the best.

Total War Arena
As you might have noticed from previous articles, i am a big fun of total war series. So how could i not have tried their MOBA. First of all i have to admit battling 10vs10 with a massive army in each side is at least thrilling. Second tactics and strategy is all about this game. Yes your infantry unit might be losing to the enemy archers but if you are to keep them occupied for a long time your cavarly is going to be able to wipe them. High ground is a great condactor of victory, narrow passages are useful to bait bigger units and kill them and of course terrain can make huge differences. Each side is consisted of 10 players and each player controls 3 units that can be infantry, pikes (strong against cavalry) or swords(strong against pikes), ranged units, archers(they are strong against all units except those who are basicaly shielded from them) or javellins (they have stronger shots than archers and can travel faster), cavalry units, horse archers (they can manauver around the enemy units and shoot arrows) or basic cavalry (u don't want them near your archers or artillery units or any unit that has turned their back on them) and finally artillery or support units, they are consisted of catapults and balistas and they can damage all the other units for a very great amount, they are very difficult and slow to move around, they need protection. So basically you use 3 units, one of each or 2 and one or all three being just from one type. Helping your allies or storming the enemy back lines or even capturing their base can be crucial to achieve victory.
League of Legends
Well the most famous of all MOBAs, there are over 60 million players worldwide. It is a game that wants you and your teamates to destroy the enemy base. There are three lanes and each lane has six towers, three from each side that does not let the creep waves that spawn from each side to destroy the Nexus, the Nexus is each sides ultimate goal. There are 5 primary positions to play, those are top laner who is the beefy tank/bruiser of each team, the midlaner mainly a caster role (phycical or magical dmg), the jungler who is supposed to be ganging the lanes assisting his allies so that they are able to claim an advantage over their enemies, the carry which is mainly a long range physical damage char that is supposed to farm enough so that in late game he/she will be able to kill any char of the enemy team and finally the support, support's job is to babyshit the carry, support with items that give access to better vision, slows for enemies and buffs for allies. All in all the game is tactical but i tend to call it newbie friendly since even someone who does not understand anything about MOBAs can start and play and he will have fun and be able to do some impact. The competitive scene is a different matter of course, tactics and strategies varies and pro gamers are expected to do extrordinary performancies. There are 2 more Maps in the League but the ultimate goal is the same.
SMITE
So let's talk about Gods. Yes Gods people, SMITE is a battleground of ancient gods, demons and demigods. It is very much like League of Legends but you can say it is better by the experience it provides and worse by the way it allows you to build up your char. In smite your camera is in third person and vision is more "personallized" you might be able to see an enemy in your lane but if he is too far away your team won't be able to see him in the minimap. The main idea is the same, you want to destroy the enemy base and kill their Titan, ok Titan fights back and Nexus doesn't. Moreover if you are intrested in ancient gods and what they were able to do, the team behind smite is bringing their lore in game and their events are "god" based. There are a few different game modes and my favorite one is the Arena which is a 5vs5 very fast battle, the ultimate goal of the Arena is different than the main game one, more like a deathmatch you fight to kill creeps and players and make the enemy team bleed tickets/points, the first team that gets to zero loses. Smite is not so newbie friendly and i would say you 'll better be ready to have your ass kicked a lot before you get a hold over the game.
DOTA 2
Welcome to the kings court. Yea yea LoL fans your game is awesome i agree, but DOTA is exactly the same game but so much more in every aspect. First of all the positions are six (at least) since there is roamer. The map is a lot bigger and you can use the terrain because during night time (yes there is day/night cycle) your vision is smaller. Trees around the map can be caught (all of them) and paths in the jungle are so so so many. Shops are two for each side and going to the secret shop (of your side of the map) can be a dangerous task, wards that provide vision are a different matter too, you can hide them in trees, you can use higher ground where the enemies without their own ward can not see. Tactics and strategy differ a lot from LoL's since fights take a lot longer and game is just a little slower. A little is enough to make you cry some times. The competitive scene has to offer a lot more money and since there are so many active items (items that are used as spells) the combinations that each individual player can do offer a thrilling and spectacular show. Finally in DOTA client you can find the arcade mode, which is consisted by player made maps which most of the times have nothing to do with the main game.
A few Honorable mentions
Strife (a very newbie friendly game fun enough, very LoL/Dota like), World of Tanks/Battleships/Warplanes (three different games from the same company, i have played warplanes and tanks myself, they were fun enough), Heroes of Newerth (a very Dota like game but with much smaller community), Heroes of the Storm (well that game is very very team based, i did not have so much fun cause you are not so much of an individual).

In conclusion
Each and every of these games have a lot to offer, you should try them all, choose for your self and take a good look to the honorable mentions since they are games that i haven't played "that much".
