The Future of Steem Lies With Gaming

in #gaming6 years ago

Hey guys! Recently, I've noticed a lot of new dapps, SMTs and other projects that have chosen to be built on the Steem blockchain! This, along with HF21 and SMTs finally having a set date is very exciting! Since the start of my journey here on Steemit, I have always tried to promote gaming, as I feel like content creators and streamers have immense potential to earn a lot of money here on the Steem blockchain! With this thought in mind, I tried my hardest to promote gaming when I first got here on the platform. However, at the time there was very little interest due to Steem being a blockchain (thus crypto related), the market being extremely bullish (so crypto posts rose above all else) and just simply not enough gamers to sustain a tag.

However, due to the bearish market, I realise that there has actually been a lot more posts about the actual development of just general things on the blockchain, of which many are games!

Trustless Auction Houses

This can be done using the Steem blockchain as it's immutable and everyone with an account can interact with it. This means anyone can buy or sell in a centralised, yet trustless environment!

Real Ownership

Classically, gaming giants like Blizzard have explicitly said on their terms and conditions that gamers are not the legal owners of the items they possess in game! This means you don't technically own the items you have. However, with the introduction of the blockchain and SMTs in the future, gamers can have somewhat real ownership of the items they have in game! This can be seen for example through Steem Monsters. The cards I have all have a unique ID which acts as kind of like a token, which is mine! I trade it, sell it, or probably even burn it by sending it to @null, the card is mine and I can do anything I want with it!

Fast and Free Transactions

One thing that Steem has an advantage over other blockchains like ETH is that we are near instant and free! I remember playing cryptokitties and spending over $200 on gas fees in a few days. No one will have to face that problem here on the Steem blockchain since the transactions are free and fast!

New Games With Potential

The two games that I feel have the most potential is the obvious Steem Monsters, and something I've only heard of recently Chibera. Both these games look like they will be great assets on our blockchain and I can't wait to see these two projects, and all the other projects here on the blockchain develop!

@cryptoeater no doubt you are absolutely right. and keep sharing with us such great contents.

Thank you! I will do more posts like this in the future since it seems like you guys quite like it!

I won't say the entire future but yeah, the rise of the blockchain gaming industry is a massive boost for the cryptoverse

Yeah I agree completely! I can't wait for more development in terms of gaming. I feel like it's a way for both developers and gamers to earn some massive money!

I still believe in Steem which owns a huge unbelievable potential!

Gaming is a growing industry, so naturally it would be great for Steemit to take advantage of this as you say.

Yes, gaming is a massive industry that just keeps growing. I can't wait for more games to be developed on the Steem blockchain!

Great. I also have in mind that when i settle down in steem, i will try developing a game that can be played and at the same time earn steem as a reward for it.

That sounds very cool! I hope we get more people settling down on Steem and developing their own games/dapps!

I like playing game on top of steem blockchain to the fact that it is 💯% free of transaction free.

Great ideas, I wanted to start a post called "Open Source Ideas" and we all post great ideas and devs can come along and make them become a reality. In these games, what if when you lost you had to give a upvote to the winner? The potential is endless and the more SP you have the higher "stakes" you could play.

That sounds like a pretty cool idea, but some people might say it's "raping the rewards pool", as that means normal authors would be losing out on their potential rewards.

it's only fitting since the future of Steam is also with gaming ;)
