Zombie Battleground Kickstarter! Steemmonster Killer?
Zombie Battleground announces itself to be the first collectible card game to run on the Blockchain. Although we have all heard about @steemmonsters here on Steemit, Steemmonsters is not really going to run on the blockchain, but merely utilizing the blockchain to record everything that takes place.
Zombie Battleground is going to be a game for iOS and Android, and will be a fully playable version by the end of 2018. Full release by May 2019.
Loom Network
The game is created by Loom Network. Loom Network is described as a platform as a Service (PaaS) that allows Ethereum based solidity apps to be run on public permissioned and private chains. It basically helps Ethereum scale and avoid speed and scalability issues. This is great news btw, even for those who are invested in Steem and Steemmonsters. This means competition and it means that the space is moving forward.
Back To The Game
Differently from Steemmonsters where cards are up for sale and trade long before the actual game is launched, Zombie Battleground is about playing to get the right cards.
Gaming the system is out of the question. There's no trump card you can buy or cheat code you can enter, you'll need to collect, trade, and strategize for every battle. You can buy cards, but you won’t be able to purchase your way to victory. If you’re willing to put in the hard work—we’ve designed the game to reward you with plenty of loot as you hone your skills and prove your worth.
The game will have different elements very much similar to Steemmonsters, and you will have to try and collect cards and balance the strenghts and weaknesses to match your deck and playing style. There will be millions of combinations.
The AI is built to evolve as the game gathers more metadata from matches, and new AI profiles will emerge to surprise you. There will also be solo adventures that are self contained campaigns.
Marketplace
Trade with other players or sell at any price you want. You will be able to see how many cards there are, the cards rarity, historical selling price. The marketplace is built on blockchain and is open for anyone to see.
My Take
Loom Network brags about not having a white paper, and they do have a point. Most cryptos are all talk and very little walk. Loom Network has on the other hand all ready some merits like CryptoZombies, DelegateCall.com and EthFiddle.com..if you can call those merits. I don't know. I'm not super impressed, but again, we are so very early.
The game sounds amazing though, and I am really looking forward to see how their strategy is going to work compared to the Steemmonster team strategy. The gameplay and graphic is all good, and any game that is easy to play and will help nocoiners join the space is great IMO. This is the sort of game you will be able to pull up on your phone while working a boring shift or waiting for the bus - and your time will not be completely wasted as your effort finally is being valued. That's the great thing about blockchain technology and finite and scarce digital assets - your valuable time is now giving you a little bit of value back to you. This is going to be the reason why Blockchain games will take off. When people realize they are playing games and not earning money, while others are making a god damn LIVING off of playing games - guess who's not going to play the sucky non-blockchain games anymore? Raise a hand. That's how big Blockchain is going to become. Don't dare to believe in a 1 trillion dollar market cap cryptos? Better believe it. Just revolutionizing the gaming industry is going to take us way past that.

Well written post!
I don't care about loom network having a whitepaper. Loom network convinced me with their projects. I enjoyed learning solidity with cryptozombies.io so much I even donated a portion ETH. (my review)
Zombie Battleground makes a very consistent first impression. Some say it is heavily based on Blizzard's Hearthstone, which I can not rate because I don't know Hearthstone good enough.
Actually, Zombie Battleground was intended to be a game template for developers. Referring to something well-known on a template is understandable. Hopefully the finished game will differ from Hearthstone.
However, for me the crypto related features are reason enough to support the project. They are currently running a Kickstarter campaign to make the game known in the not crypto world. I can not wait to test it and got early-access codes for me and few friends.
Thanks!
Yeah, I'm trying to support all the blockchain or crypto based/related games that are coming out. As long as they are really trying and not being straight up scams like many are.
This one is one to keep an eye on! I agree
I personally like what Loom is doing. They are constantly trying to bridge the non-techies to the crypto world. They don't have a whitepaper, but we can clearly see what they are capable of through the stuff they are delivering.
