Table Top Game Reviews: Qwirkle
Qwirkle is a fun game for all ages. It takes a little longer to play (~45 minutes), so sometimes the little ones can lose interest. For the most part, my kids love it.
You can buy it on Amazon (currently selling for $21.99). It's got a 6.8 rating on boardgamegeek.com out of 11k ratings. Here are the main reasons I like this game:
- It's so simple my 3-year-old can play.
- Getting a "Qwirkle" (a 12 point move of 6 shapes in a row) is exciting.
- Depending on how you want to play, you can create new opportunities for everyone or shut things down.
- Good for when I'm in a score-keeping mood.
It's a pretty straight-forward game in that you are trying to get one of each shape in the same color all in a row or you're trying to get the same shape in each color all in a row. The trick is, you can never have a duplicate block (color and shape) in the same row.
Sorry it's been a few months since I've done a table top game review. Someone reminded me a while back how much they enjoyed them, but I've been busy with quite a few things lately. I've got a couple more I'll be releasing soon.

We play this game ALL THE TIME. My 4 and 7 year old love it and my 12 year old still enjoys it. Fun enough for adults as well definitely.
Nice! Sometimes I think I enjoy this one more than the kids.
Thanks for posting this Luke. My wife and I are always searching for games we can play as a family with our 3 girls. Our youngest is also 3 and outside of Memory, Candyland and Go Fish it's challenging to find games she enjoys and holds her attention for an extended period of time. We'll definitely give this a try. Anything that allows us to spend time together is a worthy investment. Look forward to your other reviews.
Agree 100% Any reason you can find to do things as a family is worth doing!
Absolutely! I see a new game for our family coming very soon! Thank you for sharing!
Oh man, stay tuned. We have a ton of board games, and I'll eventually get around to reviewing them. Our kids love playing games (mostly my son Devon), and I'm super stoked @corinnestokes enjoys them also. Makes me a very happy husband. :)
Thanks a bunch to exchange all the news again!
It's funny to know that our friend Ken is back in the game. Thrilling times for all of us, especially reading the part where you share that "Blockpay and Carbon started this week and Stealth and GrapheneJ will resume next week!"
It's also good to read news about Obits as well. I do not know him. I only know what is happening, to treat them ... I still learn more, and also expect.
Thanks again for your great information, Namaste :)

This looks really fun and easy to learn and play. My youngest is just starting pre-school and I'm volunteering, this would be perfect for the kids to play there plus play at home with the family. Thanks for posting this! :)
Excellent! Let me know how they like it.
Very cool game, thanks for post.
Looks like a great game for the kids! I'm glad yall a good time :)
Nice ... Always amazing photos
We play this with my students in our coding/enginner class. Works great for all grade k-5. And they can lose interest but i find thats with most tabletop games. Either their social skills are still developing or they struggle accepting that someone else appears to be winning. It's still a fun time. I will let ya know how our next board game day goes next week.
Very cool! Yeah, I think some love the games and others don't. My oldest and my youngest love them, but my middle child thinks she loves them until we start playing and then she's the first to get bored. It happens all the time.
I have never heard of it! Sounds like a great game for a holiday or a rainy day!
I will get this for my son on his birthday.
Very cool! :)
Very cool!
Might have to check that out for me and the fam.
:D
