Details of the history of the video game.

The main character of this video game is James Sunderland has come to the town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife, Mary, although he had died of an illness three years ago.

The letter states that Mary is waiting for James in his special place, which confuses James, since all the town of Silent Hill was his special place, but finally decides to go to Rose wáter Park.

After leaving the observation platform of the town and traveling towards Silent Hill, James crosses the cemetery and finds Angela Orosco, a teenager who came to town in search of her mother, her brother and her father.

When James arrives in Silent Hill he discovers that it is not the same town, beautiful as it was in the past.

In addition to the strange fog, the entire town seems to be deteriorated and abandoned and inhabited by macabre monsters, and humanoids are roaming the streets and trying to attack James at any time.

It is when he discovers that the road to his first destination, the Rose Water Park, is cut, James decides to travel through an apartment complex to get to what he believes could be the special place that Mary mentioned in his letter.

Once inside the apartments, James meets a small girl who steps on his hand and runs away.

Shortly thereafter, he encounters Pyramid Head, a humanoid monster whose head is completely obscured by a giant pyramidal metal helmet that protects him against anything James possesses in his inventory.

James later meets an obese young man, Eddie Dombrowski, as he vomits in one of the apartment bathrooms.

Eddie responds in a very defensive way to James's questions about a corpse in the apartment's refrigerator.

After this, James meets Angela again, who thinks about suicide while lying on the floor with a knife in his hand in front of a large mirror.

James convinces her to give him the knife for his own safety, after which he flees with unusual panic.

When James finally arrives at Rose Park, he meets a woman named Maria, who looks almost identical to his late wife Mary, but dressed in a more provocative outfit and a more insolent attitude.

During her travels, she reveals things to him and starts acting in a very seductive way towards James. Maria accompanies James in his attempt to reach his second supposedly special place, the Lakeview Hotel.

James enters the Pete's Bowl-O-Rama, where he meets Eddie again and then, the girl appears again, which flees when James sees her.

Eddie reveals to James that her name is Laura on the outside, Maria claims to have seen Laura and, out of concern for her, tells James to try to follow her.

Their search takes them to Brookhaven Hospital, where Maria gets sick, and insists on resting in one of the Hospital rooms.

James finds Laura in one of the rooms, but is angry with her because she claims to have known Mary since last year, in clear contradiction with her belief that she has died three years ago.

After this, Laura encloses him in a room full of monsters hanging in cages called as the Flesh Lips, under the pretext that there was a letter from his wife.

After he defeats them, the hospital undergoes a dramatic sudden change to the Otherworld, where James returns to the hospital room to discover that Maria is no longer there.

James is later to Maria in the basement of the hospital, however Maria is furious claiming that James had left her.

After calming down, insists on finding Laura a Pyramid Head appears again and chases James and Maria through the basement of the hospital.

The Pyramid Head manages to kill Maria while trying to escape through an elevator again, alone and saddened by the loss of Maria, James decides to refocus on his original goal of his search for Mary.

He leaves the hospital and finds a key buried under a statue in the park Rose toilet, which takes him to the Historical Society of Silent Hill.

In fact it contains two levels that are not appreciated in the map of the town Toluca prison and the Labyrinth, in which Pyramid Head resides.

In this area, James finds Maria, miraculously alive and locked in a prison cell, which surprises her with memories of Mary.

He tells her that he will get her out of there, but when he leaves and then goes back and enters the cell, James discovers that she has been murdered once more.

The next area, in which James meets with Angela, offers the story of why Angela and Eddie are in town.

A newspaper clipping indicates that Angela killed her father, who abused her with the complicity of his mother.

James saves Angela from a monstrous manifestation of his father, but then she becomes hostile towards James.

It is revealed that Eddie suffered from years of verbal abuse by his teammates, killed a football player's dog and then shot the owner of the dog.

It is also clear that on his arrival in Silent Hill, he went crazy, seeing everyone as if they were making fun of him, and resorted to killing anyone he met.

The first time he tries to explain the bodies he has left during his stay in Silent Hill, but in the end he feigns James too, and he is forced to kill him so he can continue.

James feels sorry for killing Eddie, and after this point, James questions his understanding of the events that led to his arrival in town, and the letter he supposedly received from Mary goes blank, indicating that the letter it was something that James's own mind did, and that it never really existed in the first place.

James manages to leave the Labyrinth and row by boat to the Lakeview Hotel, hoping to find Mary once there, he meets Laura once more, and she gives him the letter from which she supposedly lied to James before; it reveals that Mary wanted to adopt her.

Which at the same time confirms Laura's claims about knowing Mary since last year.

The final truth is shown to James when he sees a video tape that he apparently left at the hotel three years ago, which shows that he killed his wife, who suffered from a terminal illness, suffocating her with a pillow.

Laura, who was ready to leave town, meets James and he reveals the truth to Laura and gets mad at him for killing Mary, and then leaves the room in silence.

On the radio that James has been carrying and warning him of the presence of monsters, a message of Mary sounds, asking him to find her.

James explores the rest of the hotel, discovering that it is now completely wet and rotten, and appears to be nothing more than the remains of a building that has previously been burned by a fire.

James finds Angela on a burning staircase, and she asks him to return the knife to kill himself, James refuses to give it to him when Angela goes up the stairs, James tells her that the room is surprisingly hot.

To which she responds that it was always like that for her, which means that her life was always a hell, after that she climbs up the stairs completely, and disappears into the flames.

The end approaches, James finds another resurrected Maria, tied and screaming for help, but is quickly killed by two Pyramid Head.

James realizes that they have been created to punish him for his sins and then confronts them.

After they are severely weakened, they commit suicide with their own spears, to indicate that their purpose has been fulfilled.

James crosses a corridor where he hears a previous conversation that he and Mary had, when she was still alive; In this conversation, James gives her some flowers, but she does not accept them, claiming that she is too disgusting to deserve the flowers and shouts at James furiously.

At the end of this conversation, Mary desperately pleads with James to stay with her. James enters a large metal complex with a long staircase.

At the top of the stairs, he meets a woman depending on the ending, the woman can be Mary or Mary which becomes a manifestation of Mary's pain after James defeats her, the game comes to an end of the video game.
