Good morning my followers, welcome to another post of the "Virtual Kitchen 2.0". Starting this beautiful stage in Bogota today I bring you a PSP game called Jeanne d 'Arc or Joan of Arc, one of the many PlayStation Portable Console game that caught my attention and I liked it, but first before talking about game let's go with a short review of Wikipedia:

Jeanne d'Arc (ジ ダ ダ ダ ダ ダ JannuDaruku) is a tactical role-playing video game developed by Level-5 and published by Sony ComputerEntertainment for PlayStation Portable (PSP). The game was first released in Japan on November 22, 2006 and was located for launch in North America on August 21, 2007. It was never released in PAL regions.
Jeanne d'Arc was the first role-playing video game of Level-5 of this type, as well as the first studio production for PSP. The narrative of the title makes use of several elements of fantasy, and is based loosely on the story of Joan of Arc and her struggles against the English occupation of France during the Hundred Years War at the beginning of the 15th century.

lets talk about the game.png

One of the things that caught my attention in this game was that the story of Joan of Arc (which half knew thanks to the game Age of Empires II) is identical and not lost much by the mixture of fantasy, apart from the cinematic It was made in anime style that for my personal taste was a good hook.

When entering the game I realize that the game with respect to others tactical RPG style is very similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. Since the game is strong, everything else is basic, you go to the cities to buy weapons, armor, potions, accessories and get information on how to move forward. We will also have free combat zones to earn some money and combat zones that have to do with the plot.
The graphic level of the combats is 3D with manga style, the effects and colors in the scenarios are very good and above all the actions of the characters are not so complex, making the strategies in the field are simpler.

Before each fight we must prepare the characters and select those who fight, reaching a limit of 6, depending on whether there are already characters in the combat or not. At the beginning of the fight we can analyze the scenario and as in any good tactical game the terrain is the key. For example: within each scenario there will be treasures that are worth collecting and above all some auras called "Burning Auras" that allow the character that is there in that space to double their damage when attacking, but in doing so the aura will go to another position so use it with conscience.

In the combat menu when selecting a character we have the same options as a tactical RPG:

menu de combate.png

** Movement: ** Allows us to move the character a certain number of frames depending on the number (worth the redundancy) of steps allowed by character (that you know by checking the status of each character).

movimiento.png

** Attack: ** Allows us to attack an opponent, depending on the weapon we possess it will have to be near or far from the opponent. For example, if you have a bow, you can attack from a distance and not from close range. If you have a spear, you can do it both close and medium distance and if it is a sword only near the opponent. If when attacking an opponent you have another character near you, it will help you attacking him doing extra damage.

** Techniques: ** Allows us to use a character's special abilities, both magical abilities and combat abilities, one of the characteristics of the game is that you can learn the combat techniques of your enemies or obtain them with gems of both magical abilities as combat, that if each character has a limit of skills that increases the level. We also have passive skills to increase the character's status.

** Items **: Allows us to access the store of objects that we have either to heal, harm the enemy, temporarily improve the status of a character or diminish the opponent's.

** Transformation: ** One of the skills of the game that I liked a lot, allows you to transform the holder of a bracelet (Until now the protagonist) acquiring improvements in their status and new combat techniques, except that if you manage to kill an opponent in this state they give you an extra turn of movement and attack. You also have several transformations in the game gathering some crystals for the bracelet.

** Status: ** Allows us to see the values of a character, strength, defense, speed, magic, etc. It is advisable
Know the status of your characters so you can know who benefits the magic and who the combat skills. Each character has a connection or affinity with the Sun, Moon and Stella, depending on that each one has a weakness and strength against the other, for example: the Sun beats the Stella but loses against the Moon, the Moon wins the Sun but loses against Stella and Stella defeats the Moon but loses against the Sun.

** Wait: ** Allows us to finish the character's turn, we can do it from the beginning if we do not want to do anything with it, then it will give us the option of which side the character should be looking at, it is important since that side that you choose will defend itself, if you attack it on its side it will receive damage but it will turn, and if it is attacked from the back the damage will be much greater. Just as attacking your other characters helps you, so is the defense, as more characters are together, the stronger your defense will be, so nothing to be a solitary wolf ...

pro, cons and conclusion.png

Pro:

Good graphics, excellent sound quality, the plot based on the story of Joan of Arc (and something else ...), spectacular animations and especially good game difficulty

Cons:

The original game is Japanese, I download it in English but it has problems with the language and the dialogue with the characters is lost a lot, a pity the truth ...

Conclusion:

I recommend it for those who like tactical RPG and those who know the story of Joan of Arc and want to experience it in their own flesh with fantasy and magic. They either learn Japanese or guess a little what happens hahahaha. Nah seriously is a good game, I liked it a lot and I hope to play again in the future (I got stuck on a mission).

I leave a Youtube gameplay made by PSPscene, enjoy it:

Thank you very much to all who visited this post and those who do not visit it are not like that; D

Until next time my followers and do not forget that:
