Umuka - be ready for a great experience
- What is Umuka
Umuka is a story-based adventure game with a pixel art design.
The game is a side-scroller and the fighting system will be hack 'n' slay.
The game is programmed with the game engine Unity and most of our graphics are created with the drawing program Aseprite. All graphics are designed and drawn by our designer and they are all unique.
- The Story
There is a young, terminally ill boy, who is very sad because of his diseases and his only escape are his dreams. There is one problem though. His diseases cause nightmares so he often wakes up at night and cant sleep very well. One day something really bad happens. He is "trapped" in his dreams and there is only one way to escape them, he must fight against his nightmares to be saved from his diseases.
- Gameplay
As already mentioned, Umuka is a story-based adventure game. It's a side-scroller and the fighting system will be hack 'n' slay. You are playing the ill boy in his dreams, so all the things you see are in his imagination. The goal is to kill all the enemies and bosses in his dreams to save him. Everytime you get hit by an enemy you gain fear and the enemies become stronger.
Movement:
The Movement will be a simple right and left walking and running. It's also possible to jump and crouch and combine it with attacks.
Classes:
There will be three classes which can be chosen by the player (Fighter, Magician, Marksman). All these classes have three different Skills (stronger hit, buff, ultimate), different regular attacks and different preferation of skills (Fighter = defense, Magician = strength, Marksman = agility).
Fighting:
Because of the different attacks (upperhit, dash, jumphit) it is possible to make combos and to combine them with the different skills. Try to find the perfect combo to kill your enemies and to save the boy from his diseases.
Levelsystem:
It will be a simple levelsystem from level one to level 100 and everytime you level up you gain one point to skill your physics.
Physics and Skills:
Besides the three Skills, which are unlocked after a few levels and can't be leveled up, there are physics (Strength, Defense, Agility) which can be skilled with the points you gain by levelling up.
Items:
Dead enemies can drop items like weapons and armor, which can be equipped when your level is high enough. Weapons increase your strength and armor increases you armor. There will also be a healing potion which heals your life by a certain percentage.
Enemies:
The difficulty of the game and the enemies can be chosen at the beginning of the game. It will be seperated between easy, medium and hard.
Gamemodes:
Currently the idea is to make two modes, the first one will be the story and the second one will be an infinite mode with a wave system. If we get an idea for a new gamemode it could be that we will implement it.
The current state of the ingame design. This is a part of the first world with the HUD and the abilities for the fighter class.
The red circle is the health, the green bar is the experience bar and the black bar under the green bar shows the fear of the player.
- FAQ
What are your goals ?
Our goal is to make a game based on the old retro games to give our players a nostalgic feeling.
When will Umuka be released ?
We try to release a demo during the first quarter of 2018 to give you a glimpse into it. The release of the finished game is unclear because there is much work to do but we hope it will be done until the end of 2018.

We are Mister Blueberry, a indie-game developer team of four guys who have fun in creating games and try to publish our ideas.
