G2 Esports Signed Exclusive Contract with Twitch!!

G2 Esports has announced an agreement with Twitch over the next few years. This agreement binds the esports organization to this exciting streaming platform exclusively.

G2 Esports and Twitch expect positive things from this contract. This means that creating all the streaming and content from G2 Esports players including a team video podcast, will not be found on any other platform except Twitch.

This news follows an announcement made over a year ago that G2 Esports will spread their content to Facebook. At that time, they became one of the first teams to make such a deal with Facebook. Team Dignitas also then moves away from streaming content via Twitch.

Facebook has indeed made some great moves in esports. Take for example when they get ESL Pro League league rights, ESL One Series, Paladins Pro League and Gfinity Elite Series. The loss of media rights to big teams is recognized as a minor setback, but many large esports have built up a sizeable fanbase on Facebook even though few work with these social media giants in terms of content.

To see this from a wider perspective, let's take the example of OpTic Gaming, for example. The Dallas, USA-based organization has an exclusive deal for several years with Twitch, and recently expanded its partnership with Turtle Wax to create new content centered on their products to showcase its players, including its CEO .

Either because Twitch is still focusing on the "true form" of esports, or because Facebook is too slow to be a viable option for gamers who do livestream. It seems that Twitch will remain an option for some esports and streamers in the coming years.
