we're gonna have to get real about food very soon--maybe even before the end of this century. as in: there ain't no food anymore 'cause agriculture was killed by global heat so it's down to us and the bugs--and if you ask me some of them taste just like lobster
keep wandering around in these kinds of visions: a future not quite out of a disney film--more like a hybrid of ridley scott and franz kafka
but tribal again. our roots, baby. and not impossibly even nomadic. how many of the people we see walking around right now would be able to carry their own weight up a long hill--much less carry water and the necessities of life in this movie I'm making about the brutal future of the once green earth? there'll be a whole lotta dying. on a biblical scale--it'll have to be CGI
too brilliant for his own good, he reflected--after all those years as a filmmaker now to end up scraping dishes in the kitchen of the last cheap noodle shop in shinShu--and grateful to be doing even that for a bed and all the noodles he could eat 'cause there are plenty of us out there living on bugs if you don't believe me take a look at the last post-apocalyptic movie at the last drive-in on earth . . .
