Bananaphobia

That.Is.A.Real.Thing

So for as long as I can remember, I've shown a massive scorn for bananas. I won't eat them, won't hold/touch them, won't even give it a glance.

When Queensland had a massive flood in 2011, bananas went out of production and it didn't faze me. It became $56 a kilo at one time. I had friends who were so desperate for a banana fix, resorted to using self-checkout stations at the supermarket and checked out bananas as carrots. Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess.

Back to the present...

When I headed back into school on Monday, after the weekend, there was a nasty smell in my classroom. Like something had died.

It's Tuesday and the smell has not dissipated. So I went on a smell hunt.

Found the nasty culprit. Turns out my teacher's assistant had wrapped not one, but two bananas in one of those recyclable shopping bags and left it on the window ledge - for the sun and elements to have their way with the bananas.

AND SHE DID NOT PLAN ON TELLING ME THAT BANANAS LIVED IN THAT BAG.

So the bananas have been stewing in their own juices for the past god knows how long and they had formed a whole new life within themselves.

I have never been more traumatised.
