some fun facts about me

I'm not doing the 12 questions as a few of them I'm not sure how to answer and i don't like indefinites.

So here are 7 fun facts about me, with explanations.

# I'm totally blind from birth.

I was born 16 weeks early, and my lungs and other things were hardly developed. I got a condition in my eyes called retinopathy of prematurity. This is where scar tissue forms on the back of the eyes and there are five stages. Mine got to the final stage, which is permanent retinal detachment. i will be permanently blind with no cure.

# I have been composing music since I was 12.

I started playing the piano at 2 years old, playing back nursery rhymes that i heard on tape...one of my indicators of my aspergers syndrome. After that, i took piano lessons for 10 years. From 4 to 9 with an easy, fun teacher, then rigorous classical lessons from when I was nine to 14. I played in piano competitions and recitals. After that, I abandonded the classical field. Because i was learning music theory, at 12 I started discovering that I could come up with my own music and the rest is history.

# I am polyamorous.

I will be putting a post up detailing this more, but for now I will say that polyamory is the concept of loving more than one person, which we are capable of. It means being with multiple partners...who all know of each other and who are in agreement. There are agreements and rules made in each relationship and they are discussed beforehand. So it is all conscentual. Hoping that doesn't turn any away.

# I learned to type when I was 6 years old.

I started using an Apple 2E to learn to type with a talking program called text talker. It gave me typing exercises to do and I learned quite quickly. In grade three I learned DOS and it's ins and outs. Then I started using windows in 5th grade. I have also attempted to learn to use linux and I know how to use a mac as well.

# I love cats.

Cats have to be my favorite domestic animal. They are so soft and sweet. I have one, her name is hikari and I've had her since she was 8 months old. i've considered becoming a cat trainer, actually.

# I love to cook.

Cooking is a fun activity for me, it puts me in a zone. i enjoy cooking things like fish, chicken, and making salads. I also like making cakes, cookies and brownies. I know how to make biscuits from scratch, and mom's chocolate cake recipe is really good. I love to try new recipes and I will be probably putting up a post at some point detailing how a blind person navigates their way around the kitchen.

# I love languages.

i love to listen to as well as learn foreign languages. i am Native American and Hespanic, but i also love listening to languages such as Japanese, Turkish and Arabic. Their neuances are really interesting. I am also slowly working on learning conversational Japanese.
