Cows bells of Lombok... 🐮

Listen to the soothing sounds of cow bells in Indonesia.

Cows are particularly important to rural people, they help plow the land, these cows aren't bred to be eaten (altho a cow maybe sold and sacrificed and used for a feast, for special occasions. Festivals, wedding and funerals.) because a cow is expensive almost a month or two wages worth. They don't drink the milk of the cow either, that is saved for the calf.

The local people sometimes get farm jobs for a few days which doesn't pay any money but instead they can take the bi product to feed their cows. For example in peanut harvesting: the bunches of greens get pulled off the peanut. And the green bunches are a kind of payment (feed for the cattle) from an outside perspective this might seem quite exploitative not to pay people. But when I saw this process in exchange happening, the people were genuinally happy to take bunches of cattle feed back to the village.
