Hello Steemit World!

My first post on the Tour De French Onion Soup, brings me to MY personal favorite restaurant in Connecticut...actually, no, the USA, Seven Seas in Milford, Connecticut! If you love Sea Food, this is your place! The size of their plates you receive are unbelievable, and the smell and flavor is incredible! They don’t just have seafood though. They also have wings that are far better than any wing-specialty restaurant I've been to, that are FULL of meat and come in 2 mouthwatering flavors. It's funny; I hate all types of mustard-if it's on my hot dog or burger, I scrape it off, I can't stand it. But the honey mustard wings at The Seas are different. I got a plate of 18 wings last night, with the intention to eat half and save the rest, but they were so good I found myself eating the entire plate. You HAVE to try them!

Also, they have a variety of sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and a list of dinner entrees after 5PM. My favorite sandwich is the Roast Beef, which comes with what seems like a mountain of roast beef the size of my fist, with hot gravy, between two buns. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Each plate is served with a side of amazing wedge fries and cole slaw.

NOW! For the main reason we have all gathered here-The French Onion Soup. 🍜 From the cheese, to the chunks of onion and overall taste, the French Onion Soup at Seven Seas is everything right.

A) Crispy vs. Soft Cheese/Top

Every time I go to the Seas, the cheese is a little bit of both, but in a good way. The Cheese melted on the top rim of the bowl is very crispy, which is exactly how I like it, and makes it more enjoyable to scrape off. The cheese inside the bowl is not melted too much or too little. It’s just right. As you can see from the photos, some areas of the cheese are toasted a little more than others. The top is a very thin layer of crisp all the way across and just beneath it is soft-fully melted cheese that allows you to stretch the cheese as you raise your spoon to cool it off.

B) Amount of Cheese Melted Over Side

This category varies with every bowl you receive, obviously, but you will never be disappointed. Typically, about 85% of the outside of the bowl is draped with melted cheese whether it’s soft or slightly crispy. See, for me, I love when there’s a lot of cheese over the side. When there’s just a little bit of soup left, I go around the bowl and scrape the cheese off with my spoon and put it all into the remaining soup to sip out. That’s my favorite part of the whole experience and Seven Seas captures this perfectly.

C) Thickness of Bread

The bread under the cheese is perfect for the amount of onions in the bowl. It’s not a very thick slice of bread but provides a perfect wall between the cheese and the soup.

D) Amount of Onion

What to say about the onion in this bowl 😍…the chefs at Seven Seas are extremely generous when slicing the onions for this soup. Until the very last scoop, you will not have a spoon that does not have a piece of onion in it. The onions right below the cheese are very respectable size slices with so much flavor from being soaked in the soup and will engulf your spoon. From the large chunks to the bottom of the bowl, you will be blessed with a soup filled with more onions than you've ever seen in a single bowl. I'm not kidding when I say every scoop has onion in it. And it's not even overpowering, if you love French Onion Soup, it's just right! If you don't believe me, you'll just have to try it for yourself!

E) Overall Taste

If you haven’t been able to tell by now, I have zero complaints for the French Onion Soup at Seven Seas. All of the ingredients mixed together into one bowl are absolutely…PERFECT. The soup itself is not plain/watered down, not salty, not empowering of any of the spices used, it’s just absolutely delicious. It’s the type of soup that after taking a sip, will make you close your eyes, grin and let out a soft “mmm” just like in classic soup and coffee commercials. MOST IMPORTANTLY, you can ask for extra cheese and everything I noted above about the cheese multiplies! I don’t know what more I can say about this French Onion Soup or Restaurant in its entirety. It’s just one of those things you have to experience for yourself.

Seven Seas is awesome. I'm a big fan of their 'Hot Fingers' and their fried fish sandwich. The Lobster rolls are also delicious.

As for their French onion soup.... easily one of the best in town. I'm excited to see what other restaurants will come next!

I'm gonna have to try this soup now after seeing this review.

Extra cheese.
