When talking about eating habits. We have got to mention the fact that a lot of people when asked the question "Do you eat healthy?" Or, "Do you eat well?". They often answer with that they eat very well or healthy. Some try to keep it somewhat honest and say that not everything they eat healthy.

But, this strikes a question, does everyone eat as healthy as they think?

The short answer is no. Of course, not everyone is getting the nutrition they need from food. But, let us just explore this a little bit.

When talking about the nutritional value. We have to come across the fact that similar kinds of foods vary in terms of nutritional value. For instance, if we talk about an apple. The highest nutritional value is when it is taken from the tree. Then, it starts decreasing within time. That is one factor to look at. Secondly, when the apple is sliced, it starts losing its nutritional factor faster. So, if we say we sliced it in two halves. Then, each half would lose its nutritional value double the speed of a not sliced apple.

Moving on, let's talk about the growth of food and it's conditions. If we put our food in a harsh condition before harvesting it. It sometimes affects the outcome (which is the fruits or vegetables in this case). The same goes with animals. The conditions that they are in makes a lot of difference.

I came across the above information some time back and I think it was an information that was new to me as I have not thought of it before. Plus, it is something that is not talked about a lot. Therefore, I chose to share it with you and see what you think about it.

Apart from all that, I guess the rest is information that is known or at least discussed widely.

To conclude, I would say that one should pay attention to their eating habits and assess the quality of food they eat.

Sort:

I doubt it's possible to know the nutrition of what you eat. No matter if it's fruit or something else and you forgot to mention all the chemicals and plastic we consume if we eat (plants also take it out of the soil).

Do I eat healthy? The answer is no, I rarely eat and see I am still alive.

While it might seem like something difficult or not possible to find out if your food is full of nutrition or not?. Is it also difficult to assess how healthy one is eating?

I think it is important for each person to be able to an extent to give an accurate feedback to himself about his food.

Thanks for passing by & supporting this post,

To many it is and this has also to do with education. Studies show high educated people eat more healthy which also shows in the shopping cart.

Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs cost as much as "healtht" food that is if available. Ifa bag of potato chips is cheaper the choice is easily made if there's not much money left to buy. Potatoes fill the stomach unlike 1 or 2 apples which sour attacks the teeth.

Are people honest about healthy food, a healthy lifestyle? No way! If that would be true you woud find the most healthy and intelligent people on Steemit if you would believe what they write. It's more likely the opposite. If you lie you fit in. 😁

I would say it is more related to knowledge. Education as a term is now linked to school. While, it aims for the same thing. But, it might not include all the information that one might need to make a healthier choice/s.

Are people honest about healthy food?

I guess, we need to ask if one is able to properly assess the quality of their food first. Then, we can ask if they're being honest. It seems that not everyone agrees that healthy lifestyle /food is one thing. If you take a large group of people and ask them, you will end up with different views and definitions which at times are contradicting.

With so much bad information on the web, it is difficult for people to acquire good eating habits.

It also depends on the purchasing power you have in the places, I mean countries where you live.
Here it is very difficult to be able to buy everything I like in the market.
I don't cook with vegetable oil, I eliminated it from my market, but it is the cheapest thing there is and of many types of seeds. Olive oil is the most expensive oil, and nowadays they are imitating it to the point that you have to know how to look for the original and well recommended.
When I am in the months of my overweight control I do not eat bread of any kind, but it is the cheapest I can get.
I prepare my own spices for my meals, ginger, curcuma, chilies, peppers, garlic. So I know I eat organic.

In some things my products are of quality but in other cases I can't afford the high price, and I prepare what I can get.

It is a good topic that you have put in your publication of many points of view.
