Day 5/370: 5 minute freewrite -- 'not in my neighborhood'
Tommy grabbed his gun, took aim and fired. A hold went straight through the gopher's head as it twisted around to die on the ground next to where it had popped up for the last time.
"Ha! Bullseye!" Tommy yelled and made a whopping sound. He nudged his friend, Rocky. "Didja see that?"
"You must have been practicing since I been out here last." Rocky slapped Tommy on the shoulder after setting down his beer.
Dark clouds began to roll in, slowly at first, covering the sky as the thunder shook the aluminum patio roof Rocky and Tommy stood under.

"That one," God pointed down. A man in a red baseball cap had just shot a gopher. "Those kinds of people, they piss me off."
Lightning struck.
"Not in my backyard," God said, scanning for another.

#freewrite Prompt from @freewritehouse -- "not in my neighborhood" (original post)
@kipswolfe, this is the first time I've seen your name here (though I seen now that you've been here some time and I somehow missed out). Welcome (however belatedly) to #freewritehouse! I love your story of the Nissan Maxima (how my daughter loved hers!) - some old woman T-boned that car and the police officer played "dumb blonde" when she arrived, saying, "It's your word against hers," and we footed the $1700 repair bill while "Grandma" lied and got off the hook.
You have an unusual bio - writing and physics and math? How many people have both sides of the brain working with equal competence? I am in awe!
@kipswolfe--Author, writer, freelance content editor, proofreader, copyeditor, photographer, gamer, B.S. in Physics & Mathematics
Thanks for the welcome!
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's Maxima. That's definitely a shame. And for Grandma to get off because the cop didn't want to pay attention to it? That's awful. Too bad you didn't report the cop -- not that it would have made a difference, you know?
Writing has always been a passion of mine. The Physics and Matematics side was a long few years -- I almost had the thesis advisor of my dreams, seriously. But my daughter had come along by that point and I decided to leave school to take care of her once we discovered that she had autism. But I almost met that dream of being an astrophysicist...
Thanks for stopping by!
astrophysicist -- wow!!!
Maybe down the road, that door will still be open, or maybe some other door will... just to know you have that talent is empowering. You go!
Oooh!
This is dark and vengeful and brutal. I love it!
