I GOT ROBBED

Source

Hey guys so I haven't been posting as frequently as I used to, even with the hike in the price of BTC, SBD and STEEM. Well that's because on the 12th of April my sister(@talivet) and I got robbed. The thieves took our laptops and phones, systematically crippling us.

It was a rather shocking experience, how the thieves got in and out of the house unnoticed is beyond me. Well I figure it was an inside job because the gate leading into the block of flats we live in just happened to conveniently be open that day and nobody seems to be able to provide a concrete answer as to why it happened. I had a conference to go for that morning, THE PORT HARCOURT MAINTANANCE SUMMIT(PHMS) to be exact. Being a fresh graduate I was hoping to mingle with experts in the industry and maybe make a few contacts and I almost missed out on that opportunity because of this incident. I met @winarobert at the conference and he was shocked when I told him what had happened

The night it happened, was like a dream to me, I woke up and didn't see my laptop or phone, woke my sister up and asked her where she kept it and she had no idea what I was talking about. She checked for hers and didn't see it and that was when it became clear what had happened. I was too shocked to say much but my sister was throwing a fit. Apparently this had happened to her before. I rushed outside to check if the gate was locked and I saw that it wasn't. Immediately. We awoke all the neighbors and did a complete search of everyone's house, while we were doing this, we found a ladder which was always under the staircase at the back of the compound laid along the fence and directly under our back door putting 1 and 2 together, I figured that someone in the compound had taken the phones and laptops, then passed it to his accomplice who was on the other side of the fence.

The first thing we did in the morning was to go to the police station and report what happened. The good people at the station insisted that we dropped some cash before any reasonable help would be rendered to us. It was funny because while the lady there was talking to me, I happened to notice a good number of print outs that where pasted on the walls boldly stating that no money should be paid to anyone for any case that's being reported.

We were advised to head to another police station where we were told to pay 40,000 naira before the police would help us track the stolen items. After losing more than 200,000 naira in property we were still expected to pay that much to get them back...what a joke. One of the police officers advised me to still go for my conference and I did. I made a couple of good contacts, even though I had to save them to my newly acquired "Nokia torch light phone". I even had to get a new phone number because the folks at MTN said my previous phone number was unretrievable. The funniest part was when I was handing people my CV and I had to cross out my old phone number and put the new one. The only disheartening part was that everyone kept saying I should connect with them on Linkden and I had to start explaining to them why I couldn't do that at the moment.

Its all good though, it's not the first time I've been robbed, my tab was stolen last year by someone I called a friend and I survived that experience and I'll definitely survive this one. Things could have been so much worse, we could have been killed in our sleep, we were literally sitting ducks and we had no idea the whole time. Thank God for his mercies!!!!

Well, I saved up my SBD last year till I was able to get myself a phone and a laptop, now I have to do that again...well I did it once and I can certainly do it again!!!

Thats it for today guys, so if you liked it then please
