That's crazy I was actually reading about how Toronto and Vancouver are some of the most expensive places to live in the world like housing just continues to go up with no end in sight, its a crazy bubble and it's bound to pop eventually and it's going to hurt a lot of people.

It can't be a good position to be in but through adversity, we find strength and I'm sure there are options for you, you're in a first-world country im sure the other smaller cities aren't the worst places to stay. Lol You could always be stuck in Africa with a water and electricity shortage like us lol
