I think it was Mahatma Gandhi who said this 'One must be slow to form convictions but once formed they must be defended against all odds'.
(Please excuse if a couple of words are missing from the quote)
Human beings are very powerful creatures but at the same time we have fatal weaknesses that leave us vulnerable. Our biggest asset and our biggest downfall is the willingness to put our faith in something. This faith can see us through all odds and yet it can be our downfall.
We need to believe in something - there is no escaping from this fact. Deprive a man from a belief system and you'll find that soon after he'll be willing to believe in anything.
Thus if one is lucky enough to find honorable principals to abide by and if our hearts rest easy with them, then one must stick to them. Men have traveled their whole lives in search if them while some men found them in their own hearts. ..............it's difficult to quantify it, at least for me.
Thanks for writing this post @chadismyname. It is a gem!
