Gareth Bale must remain at Real Madrid
Wales coach Ryan Giggs is reported to have prevented Gareth Bale from moving to Manchester United, and asked the player to stay at Real Madrid.
Bale became Wales' all-time top scorer after scoring three goals in the inaugural match for Ryan Giggs as manager, winning 6-0 over China-on Thursday (22/3) local time.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player has struggled to get to the top spot under Zinedine Zidane this season but Ryan Giggs insists the 29-year-old winger is well-placed at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Asked whether Real Madrid remains the best place for him, Giggs said: "Yes. I went to see him against PSG (in the last 16 of the Champions League). "
"When you go there, there is an aura that looms around the club, and there are only a few clubs that have (such an aura)."
"So, of course, you want (he) to live there. He won three Champions League titles, it was more than enough evidence (to stay). "
"When you're at a club like that, you'll always win many things."
Giggs admits that he is still adjusting to his new position as coach, despite having short stints as Manchester United manager after David Moyes was sacked in 2014 and enjoying two years as assistant to Louis Van Gaal.
"I learned a lot when I was at United for four matches and how isolated that position was," he added. "When you close your office door and everyone's gone, you're alone."
"Of course it's great to have good people around you that you know, and you want those people to be people you trust. But it can be a very isolated place. "
Manchester United legend, who retired at the age of 40, said he asked advice from fellow managers - including prominent figures from other sports - before his appointment in Wales.
"I was between Antonio Conte and Eddie Jones at a dinner party and tried to get information from them," Giggs said.
"But it was a nightmare. Because when Eddie tried to get information about Sir Alex, I just wanted to get all the (info about coaching) from him! "
"I did a license (coach) while I was playing, but it was only when you did the training every day that you got that experience."
"I'm not a naturally extroverted person. That's where the analysis with United's players helps. Everything gets better with that experience. "
