Scotland 0-4 Belgium: Hazard, Lukaku & Batshuayi fire dominant Red Devils to victory
Belgium rarely had to get out of second gear in Glasgow, but Eden Hazard was the catalyst for an emphatic win over an error-strewn Scotland.
Eden Hazard impressed and Michy Batshuayi scored twice as Belgium capitalised on some woeful Scotland defending to coast to a 4-0 win at Hampden Park.
A John McGinn error undid Scotland's hard work from the opening exchanges, with Romelu Lukaku the beneficiary, before star turn Hazard added a decidedly better second with a thunderous effort. Charlie Mulgrew and Ryan Jack were then culpable as Batshuayi celebrated a quickfire double.
Tougher challenges lie in wait but Roberto Martinez will be content with what he saw from his World Cup semi-finalists.
Dembele presses high and robs McGinn of the ball outside the Scotland box. It's passed on for Thorgan Hazard, who unselfishly squares for Lukaku to finish from a few yards out with Gordon out of his goal.
Brilliant from Gordon to stop Belgium from scoring a second. Hazard sees a header from close range kept out by the Scotland goalkeeper, the ball rebounds onto the post and Gordon recovers quickly enough to block Lukaku's shot from a few yards out.
Hazard powers Belgium into a 2-0 lead. He collects inside the box and drills a shot from 12 yards out through Gordon, who is falling back and can't get his hands to the ball. Maybe should have done better.
Another unforced error from Scotland and they are punished. Mulgrew plays a poor pass out of defence straight to Dembele. He moves it on for Hazard, who feeds it into Batshuayi and he slides a shot past Gordon.
There's a danger this could turn into a rout, especially if Scotland keep giving the ball away inside their own half.
They really have not helped their cause tonight, with Jack the latest culprit as he is tackled by Tielemans as he tries to bring the ball out. It's quickly moved on for Batshuayi and he finishes really well from outside the box.
