Sweet lovers- Steamed lotus root stuffed with sweet sticky rice 如何做桂花糯米藕

Hope you are doing well. While we enjoy foliage in the fall, people in Hangzhou are also enjoying flowers of Osmanthus. Other than the strong fragrance the flowers bring, the Hangzhou people are so smart that they use the flowers to make a delicious desert called steamed lotus root stuffed with sweet sticky rice.
There are different ways of making this desert. Today, let’s follow my sister-in-law to learn how she makes it. The desert has a lot nutrition to it and is a good desert for people whom love sweetness.

秋意浓,桂花香,在这里赏枫叶的日子里,杭州的朋友们享受着桂花香味同时,把它当作一种食材来做桂花糯米藕。
桂花糯米藕有很多种不同的做法。今天,我给大家展示的是我弟妹的做法。这道甜点营养丰富,对甜食爱好者是很好的一道美食。
Ingredients-
原料:
Lotus root, sticky rice, flowers of osmanthus, brown sugar, sugar(or crystal sugar), Chinese date, etc.
莲藕,糯米,桂花,红糖,白砂糖(或冰糖),红枣等
Process-
过程:
1. Rinse the sticky rice, and soak it in water for about 3-4 hours.
把糯米淘洗好,浸泡3-4 小时
2. Peels skin of the lotus root off, and trim 2mm off from the root, it helps to put the sticky rice into it.
莲藕削皮,切下2厘米(为了更好地灌糯米)
3. Put sticky rice into the lotus root. While you do it, you may sometimes slightly knock the root so the rice can go in easier, but don’t over fill it as otherwise, the lotus root will explore after it’s cooked. After you are done with it, you may apply tooth pick to the end to seal it.
灌好糯米,(灌的时候可以敲藕,但不要灌太实,太实了煮的时候莲藕会裂开)用牙签固定。
4. Put the lotus root into electronic rice cooker, and add in Chinese date, brown sugar, sugar or crystal sugar into the pot too. and press the stew button.
电饭煲里放入灌好的莲藕,红枣,红糖,白砂糖或冰糖,少许桂花,放水没过莲藕。按炖煮键
5. Or if you prefer, you can use high pressure cooker too. Start with high heat, as soon as you hear the air in the cooker, turn it to medium to low heat for another 30mins.
也可以用高压锅,材料一样,开大火上气后中小火,压30 分钟。
6. Open the lid, take out excessive juice. And slice the lotus root and put them onto serving plate. You may put few flowers of osmanthus on the top as deco and scent.
开锅把甜汁收干。切片装盘。有桂花可以撒上桂花提香点缀。

她说 桂花炒饭太香不适合。如果炒好饭再撒点是可以的。不知道对不对😜
还真有这个炒饭,我都能想象到那味道了。广州有种小吃叫砵仔糕,有桂花味的我就很喜欢吃。
