New Years Sushi Feast!

In my last post I mentioned that New Years was my wedding anniversary and how it's not something my husband and I celebrate. Well we do celebrate just in a very low key way. Being that New Years is generally a party holiday, we like to order takeaway and relax inside.. enjoying the warm glow our love and computer monitors provide. This year we decided on sushi, video games and some pink champagne! It was hard, but I managed to grab a few photos for you before we devoured our feast.

Neko Maneki make me so happy! I made an audible "gasp" when I uploaded this one. My phones live photo setting was unticked! I missed a golden (pun?) paw-portunity (pun?) to get him waving... yeah I'm done, I promise.

The sushi spot near our home has a decent sized fish tank, these beauties were so friendly and had me giggling like a little kid.

I'm a creature of habit, I get the same thing every time we visit. It's always too much food in the end, but we split the tempura chicken dinner... I love sushi, but can't resist fried veggies. We request sweet potato and broccoli (my favorite), the chefs here never let me down.

This is my plate and I know what you're thinking.. Shoogie, I can't believe you bring out the fine china for takeaway! I told you it was a special occasion, double special if you consider New Years! A plain tuna roll is my go to, what I didn't show you is that I ordered two.. because I was afraid of your judgment. I piled on my serving of tempura and nabbed a bit of white sticky rice that I like to dowse in soy sauce. I'm such a piggy, I order the pork gyoza appetizer and keep it all to myself. Don't give me that look!

I only showed it above, but hubby had the Mango Special and Eel Avocado roll. I asked him if he'd like to add an excerpt about his food experience, to which he said rather matter of factly: "The eele is my go to and the mango was too sweet." I'll leave you with that.. and to think of the two of us we consider him the "foody". haha!

It's been a long day.. My tummy is happy (for now), I've got a lovely coffee cup of cheap pink champagne and Star Wars Battlefront on deck. Heres to 2018, cheers.
