Steem Chinchin
This was one of the first things i learnt to make when i was a Teenager, this is relatively simple recipe, i have a toddler who wouldn't let me rest whenever i am cooking so i decided to involve her, if you have kids and would like them learn with you in the kitchen then this is a good recipe to start with!
Ingredients
- 3 cups of Flour(375 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Nutmeg 1tbs
- Sugar 100g
- Margarine 115g
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 egg(optional)
- Oil for frying
Prep Steps
In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients; Flour, sugar, baking powder and nutmeg. Stir thoroughly
Slice in the Margarine (combine the dry ingredients and the butter)
In a separate bowl, Whisk the milk and egg together.
Using your hands/dough mixer, combine the dry ingredients & butter, and the egg/milk mix. (i prefer to use my hands)
Once dough is formed, Roll out dough until its flat.
Using a knife, cut out dough horizontally and vertically to form squares(any shape you want), flour your tray so they don't stick together.
Deep fry the cut dough until golden brown
Enjoy!
