Is there a food that never expires?

There definitely exists a food which does not and cannot expire. What is this miracle food you ask? Well honey of course! Honey is magic. Besides its wonderful taste, it's really the only food that does not expire while in an edible form. But why does it not go bad?

Contemporary archeologists, exhuming prehistoric Egyptian tombs, have often found some unanticipated artifacts within the tombs: pots of honey, thousands of years old and yet still well-preserved. Through the eras the archeologists learn that the food remains unspoiled; a distinctive testimony to the everlasting shelf-life of honey.

The focal cause is because honey is almost completely sugar. The high sugar concentration dehydrates any cells that try to take up residence through osmosis. If there's water inside of a cell that drops into the honey, the honey will pull water out of the cell until the proportion of water to sugar inside the cell is equal to the quantity outside the cell. Owing to the honey having such great sugar content, a single cell just doesn't have enough water in it to make an indentation in that so the honey ends up pulling practically all the water out of the cell, slaying it in the course.

If, yet, the honey is visible to moist air, its hydrophilic properties will pull moisture into the honey, ultimately attenuating it to the point that fermentation can begin. Honey vacuum-packed in honeycomb cells by the bees is measured by many to be the ultimate form for conservation.

So that's why bears are always trying to get their hands on liquid edible gold.
