DONT store this Food in the fridge

in #food7 years ago

The opinion are divided in the question of which foodstuffs belong in the refrigerator and which products are stored better at room temperature. Should the bread be frozen, does it remain fresh in the bread box or can not it be put into the refrigerator? Also tomatoes are such a case, with the least one agree. But the biggest issue is the good butter. Many claim that this would have lost nothing in the refrigerator generally, others in turn hold that for total nonsense. But what's the point? So that you know from now as it really is, we tell you, which food you should not keep in the refrigerator.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes do not belong in the fridge as they lose their taste. The cold air prevents the ripening process, which gives the tomato only the typical taste. In a bowl on the work surface, the apples are far better off.

Basil
Basil is a very delicate spice. When stored in the refrigerator, it immediately begins to wither and loses its taste. The lack of flavor is balanced, in which the leaves absorb the odors in the refrigerator. Better: Leave the basil in the pot and always harvest only as much as you need. If you want to have some spice for a long time, you should repot it and keep the soil moist.

Bread
If you put your fresh bread in the fridge, it will quickly dry out and become crumbly. At best, you store it at room temperature in a bread box. The alternative would be to freeze the bread. If you take it out of the freezer at a later time and let it thaw overnight, you can look forward to a bread that almost tastes like it's fresh from the bakery.

Avocados
Avocados mature, similar to tomatoes, at room temperature. The fruit is usually offered immature in the supermarket. If, on the other hand, you have an already developed avocado and you do not want to consume these within the next days, you may put them in the refrigerator to prevent the further maturation process.

Potatoes
Potatoes like it cool, but by no means cold. The reason: If it is too cold, the potato starch turns into sugar and makes the tuber floury and sweet. Instead of the fridge, the pantry or cellar is best for storing the ever-popular tuber.

Onions
The reason why onions in the refrigerator quickly start to mold is due to their high water content. The ideal place to store onions is therefore the dark cellar or the cool but not ice-cold pantry. But be careful: If you are already storing your potatoes, these should be far enough away from the onions. Together they both spoil much faster.
