#010 My First Homemade Noodles
Lilwoodenspoon series has reached the number 10th post! Not a glorious number but sort of a complete set of number haha and in this post, I'm very very proud to share to you all, Steemians, my very first homemade noodles!! (please insert the crowd applauses here in your head as background music)
My friend/flatmate - Elaine and I bought flour and we have this crazy and out-of-the-blue idea to make ourselves some homemade noodles. Haha! I didn't know why I never thought of doing that myself since I prefer noodles than rice. But I get to do it now, here in UK with my new friend haha.
All purpose flour
400ml Water
An egg
2 Tbsp Oil
These are the recipe we used this afternoon. Realized I didn't put any measurement for the flour? (I think you didn't realize until I mentioned it HAHA GETCHA!) It is because when we followed the online recipe we found, it didn't work well. We added extra flour because the dough was too wet. So we ended up eye-balling everything. Well not every, only the flour.
First, we kneaded the dough until it looked smooth.
Then, we let it rest for almost 45mins in a bowl covered with a damp towel.
After 45mins, we kneaded the dough again for almost 10 mins. Then we separated the dough into two. One for Elaine, another one for me!
So after doing some of my own researches online, I rolled my dough until it was thin enough. Then I put some flour on top of each layer as I folded it. Then I cut it into the width that I like! I like udon or thick type of noodle, while Elaine prefered what the Chinese called the "hand-torn" type. This batch that I did, I didn't put much flour, so some part of the noodles were sticking together as I cut them and it was soooo difficult to pull them apart. Most of them ended up breaking. So I just pushed them into thinner independent small lil noodle. Haha!
I boiled it in the water until the noodle looks clear enough. Don't forget to test it in your mouth if it's fully cooked! You wouldn't wanna eat uncooked dough. Ew!
I fried some bean sprouts with sesame soy sauce as vege and spicy minced pork with mixed bell peppers as topping for my noodle. (refer to the first picture! Hehe)
At first I thought this would be a failure. Surprisingly it turned out great, chewy and fully cooked! I'm also grateful that Elaine kept encouraging me. I was satisfied and happy with the end result haha. That was only half of my dough. Another half we saved it for next time. According to online, the noodle can keep it in the fridge up to 4 days, but you can freeze it as well if you like!
haha can open shop liao mk
HEHEHEHE let me explore more first :3
I did not have the opportunity to make a homemade noodle, thank you for the post.:)
