I love golden milk as a recovery drink or as an immune system booster! It’s warm, creamy, a little spicy and a little sweet, with tons of anti-inflammatory benefits! While turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries the original days of this golden milk are quite humble. This yellow milk was simply steamed milk with turmeric! Nowadays we can run to the store or trusty Amazon to order pre-made high quality mixes that include anything from ginger, to cardamom, dates, vanilla, ashwaganda, and black pepper.

My favorite mix is The Republic of Tea’s organic single sips Turmeric and Gaia's Golden Milk blend. They each contain black pepper which is a special ingredient here. Pairing black pepper with turmeric helps make it more bio-available to your system. This means you'll be able to absorb more of turmeric's benefits when paired with black pepper! I mix these with Bulletproof Brain Octane MCT Oil, collagen peptides, unsweetened vanilla cashew milk, and honey if it's nighttime!

The MCT Oil combined with the honey allows the brain to access these nutrients more quickly. This is important if you're trying to avoid insulin spikes but still want the benefits of some good 'ol glucose at night to help you sleep better. This is a life saver for those starting off on lower carbohydrate or ketogenic diets! Raw honey is a wonderful natural way to improve your sleep quality.

When you do drink golden milk be sure to check the ingredients. If it contains black pepper remember that is a bonus as it helps the turmeric be more bioavailable as mentioned above. Bypassing the liver can sometimes be helpful but keep that in mind so you don’t consume other foods with high levels of toxicity around that. Like… your fast food drive thru or non-organic foods from the ‘dirty dozen’ and then think you’re balancing it out with a healthy recovery drink! While you’re giving turmeric an extra ticket for the show your don’t want any extra unwanted guests to get a free pass too! 🎟🎟

One of my favorite drinks! If I'm not up for the drink, for example if it is too late at night and don't want to take the time to drink it, taking organic turmeric in a veggie capsule is a great way to incorporate the benefits of this spice as well!

Never heard off it before ... maybe I check it at the reform store .

It made a significant difference for me when I was running a lot. I used to run 20-30 miles a week! I cannot even imagine running 10 miles a week nowadays. I don't know how I have less time available to me now that my kids are older! lol. You can add a 1/4 teaspoon of organic turmeric powder to some warm milk and get the benefits of this drink. The pre-made blends surely have more nutrients and benefits to them but if I'm out of it I'll drink the turmeric alone! I'd recommend a little honey or xylitol to sweeten it up a bit- it's not necessarily bitter but could use some sweetness in my opinion!

I am gonna try😬

Pretty much my favorite drink is a turmeric heavy tea too!

Cool! What's your favorite drink? Now you've got me wondering what it is!

Oh just something very similar, depending on what I have available, but essentially the same- basically some type of creamy turmeric heavy chai- esque tea, yum!

Sometimes I will make hemp milk to put in it, or some other type of non dairy milk. I love the flavors of cardamom, orange peel, fennel, anise, ginger and turmeric all together somehow, and always make sure a healthy dose of black pepper for that piperine boost! I love honey in it too, as well as some vanilla sometimes. It’s all just what I have on hand, give me a creamy hot turmeric latte and I’m happy!

It’s hard for me to pick an absolute favorite drink, but that’s probably it! Up there with green smoothies.
