Have you heard about rakija?
Hi Steemians,
Do you know what rakija is?
The easiest way to explain is to tell ''plum brandy''. Rakija is traditional alcohol beverage in some eastern Europian countries such as Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia...
It is mainly produced of plum but don't be suprised if someone offers you a quince rakija or aplle rakija. Also, rakija is made out of grapes, especially in coastal areas.
The alcohol content of rakija is normally 40% ABV(Alcohol by volume) but you can find rakija with more or less alcohol.
There are some rakija mixed with herbes, honey, anise or even roses.
Rakija is served in small glass(30-50 ml) and you can drink it cold or warm. Rakija is colorless unless herbs or other ingredients are added. Some types of rakija are kept in wooden barrels for extra aroma and a golden color.
In Serbian countryseide, every householder making his own rakija.
