Breakfast At Midnight? Heres How To Make Your Own Longsilog
Wether it be morning, afternoon or night, breakfast food is always on the menu for me. It's really fast and easy to make! Today, I will be sharing a classic Filipino breakfast dish called "Longsilog". It comes from the words "longanisa" (sausage) and itlog (egg). Combine the words together and taaadaaa behold the famous Longsilog!😋
Here are the simple ingredients that you'll be needing to create this plate of pure deliciousness!
✔Rice
✔Eggs
✔Langonisa
✔Butter
✔Salt
✔Pepper
✔Magic Sarap (msg)
✔Onion
✔Garlic
Step 1- Cook the eggs first, Sunnyside up style and set aside for later.
Step 2- It's time to do some chopping! Finely mince the garlic and onion. We will be using these two spices for our butter garlic fried rice.
Step 3- Whip out your pan and slowly melt a tablespoon of butter or more if your like me😅. Who doesn't like the smell of melting butter? It's pure bliss!
Step 4- What smells better than melting butter? That's easy! Melting butter with garlic and onions ofcourse! Wait for the onions to have a translucent color and for the garlic to have a golden brown shade to fully maximize the flavors and aroma. Trust me, the smell alone will make your tummy growl😉.
Step 5- It's impossible to make fried rice without rice right?😁 Add in as much rice as you wish to the butter garlic mixture. Day old rice really tastes alot better in this case but if it's not available, freshly cooked rice is fine. Just make sure the rice is a bit on the dry side, not mushy nor soggy.
Step 6- Make a small well and crack an egg in the middle. This would be the perfect time to season your butter fried rice. For me, I've always kept it simple. A pinch of salt, pepper and a sprinkle of Magic Sarap. Yes I know, it's msg. Not the healthiest ingredient😞 But adding a small amount can't be that bad?😁 Mix, mix and mix well and Viola! Your mouth watering butter garlic fried is ready to be served. Told you it was easy.😊
Step 7- Time for the sausages! Well, in this case it's smoked Langonisa to be exact (my favorite kind😁). In order for the Langonisa to be juicy and cooked all the way through, boil it first in water for 5 minutes.
Step 8- After boiling the sausages for 5 minutes, drain out the excess water and add in some oil to bring some crispy back! I usually enjoy it more when its fried a bit longer that usual. I wait for it to turn into a deep golden brown color. Yuuuum!😋
Step 9- Woohooo we made it! Just do the plating, make it look pretty and apetizing. You can make this dish for your friends and loved ones. Trust me, they'll be begging for more!😉
I hope you guys try this classic Filipino breakfast dish. I also had fun sharing this recipe with you all.😃
