Bakery and Japanese #1

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Today, I would gladly like to introduce my dear friend @ohayo's post in English.
He started to post some writings for the beginners who want to learn about Japanese and baking in Korean. However, I think it's also good to introduce his great posts in English.
So, I asked him for introducing his posts. He generously allowed me to do so.

The picture is quoted in Pound Cake Bible.

As you can see the picture above, there are flour, sugar (in the first row), butter, baking powder, and eggs (in the second row)

We now learn those five words in Japanese and several tips for baking.

小麦粉 (こむぎこ:ko mu gi ko)
There are some alien letters above if you are a Japanese beginner. Don't be panic on this stuff. Just read as many times as you feel comfortable.
Kanji (Chinese characters) Hiragana (Native Japanese letters) are written above. If you are a beginner, then forget about Kanji and focus on Hiragana.
The pronounciatuon for this word is "komugiko" which means flour.
In confectionary, weak flour is used , but in baking strong flour.

砂糖 (さとう: sa to u)

The pronounciatuon for this word is "satou" which means candy.
砂 means "sand" 糖 means "sugar".
If you put those words together, then you will get an idea to guess the meaning of this word "candy"

バター (Bata-)

Also, for the beginners new letters come up. The letters バター are Katakana which is commonly used to read foreign words for Japanese people. If you decide to learn Japanese, then you must memorize Katakana in advance.
The pronounciation for this word is
BaTaー (ーis to indicate long vowel "a")
In Japan, there are a variety of appetizers.
Besides, the plenty of butter is sold according to its kind. You can check this up when you go travelling in Japan.

ベーキングパウダー (BeーKing gu pa u da)
Baking powder is pronounced as BeーKinggupauda. As I mentioned, Katakana is used to read foreign words.
You may notice that the pronounciation for baking powrder in Japanese is similar to English.

Although you don't use baking powder to bake cookies or bread, the taste doesn't really change. But the reason why you use baking powder is to leaven and show some volume sense of your bakeries.

Yeah~ This is the last word you are about to learn.
Egg is pronounced as Tamago in Japanese. Eggs contain plenty of protein, so it's called "a complete food"
Besides, eggs have really effects on the tastes of cookies and bread. Eggs also have lots of water themsevels, so If you need a lot of water and make sweets for baking, you can use a supplementant as eggs.
If you finish reading this post, congratulations! I will ask @ohayo for giving me more tips for upcoming posts.

Every comment, reply, follow, and reblog is appreciated.
I wish you have a great day! Thank you.
