My Passion For Baked Goods (My Sweet Critiques)

My love for sweets and baked goods has indulged me in the realm of food art, I have become obsessed with baking shows and shows focused on highlighting edible art and sculpture creations. What better way to satisfy my cravings than traveling with my soon to be husband @mickeybeaves and getting to try different types of desserts in different locations and establishments around the world. We are currently in B.C, Canada for the summer and the two restaurants we have eaten at had some amazing sweets for me to indulge in, the first one being an all time favorite of mine, the toasted lemon meringue tart.

This lemon meringue tart had a perfect balance of meringue to lemon curd, encased in a shortbread (my absolute favorite cookie/crust) tart it was garnished with a raspberry drizzle a mint leaf and three cookies. The lemon curd was fresh and tangy with the light and fluffy meringue on top and a flakey, throughly cooked crust. When the waitress asked how the tart was only one word came to mind “divine”. I don’t use that word lightly and even Cody made a comment on how good it must have been for me to say that, one things for sure, it won’t be the last time I get that tart while we are in the area.

The grilled pineapple, peach, blueberry crumble, with ice cream on top and garnished with a chocolate straw. Both Cody and I were impressed with the grilled pineapple in this dish, it was juicy and had the perfect sweet to citrus ratio, the blueberries were on the mooshy side but very sweet and bursting with flavors and the peaches melted in your mouth, seemed like they were meant for a peach pie. The ice cream was a rich vanilla bean flavor and the chocolate straw was the perfect consistency, breaking with a crunch under my spoon. The fruits sat in a watery syrup that I wasn’t too crazy about and the “crumble” was granola tossed on top. Overall I wasn’t too impressed with this dessert.

I tend to lean towards nature’s inspired(heavy fruit) desserts but I love chocolates as well, my dream job is to be a dessert critic so I am going to be sharing my opinions on desserts here for your enjoyment! Until my next segment, cheers.
