Nice post on food insecurity. However, I think the approach that people take toward food insecurity should be modified.

The primary source of food insecurity is GOVERNMENT and its counter part POLITICS.

NOTE: WAR is something that is usually carried out by GOVERNMENTs.

Mass starvation seems to happen when governments go wrong. This can happen by either too little government. There is no protection for the people. Too much government can starve the people as well.

I think it is foolish to think of food insecurity as only a third world issue. An unacceptably large number of people in the US are dependent on the welfare system in developed nation. People in the US who are dependent on Food Stamps or their Social Security Checks for food are dependent on an organization that already $20 trillion in debt.

The best way to get rid of food insecurity is to develop monetary systems that are less prone to manipulation than our fiat currencies. We also need to do a better job distributing the means of production (ownership) than we are currently doing.

It is great for people to talk about food insecurity. However, when the conversation is consistently twisted to claims that bigger government is the answer, then we should watch out.

    Lovely post, quite Insightful.......
