Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant with an edible fruit consisting of coalesced berries, the fruit of a pineapple is arranged in two interlocking helices, eight in one direction, 13 in the other, each being a Fibonacci number. Pineapple is rich in vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants. It is very sweet but has low calories, the fruit has several healths and nutritional benefits which makes it a healthy food for consumption.

The fruit has several health benefits which are explained below so as to shed more light on the health importance of the fruit.

** Gives Bone Strength**

 

Pineapple is made up of huge amount of a compound known as manganese; manganese is known for its ability to develop strong bones and connective tissue. Based on several studies carried out it has been found out that in combination with other trace minerals, manganese prevents osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, pineapple may be key in keeping you standing tall, strong and fit.

** Promotes Good Sight**

 

Pineapple is synonymous with large amount of vitamin C, this is a vitamin that has an antioxidant properties in which it scavenge free radicals from the body system which helps keep the body safe and functioning. The vitamin C and other antioxidants present in the food promote good sights and reduce the risk of macular degeneration. 

**Reduces Blood Clot**

The bromelain composition of the fruit is quite high this gives the fruit the ability to help reduce excessive coagulation of the blood. Pineapple is ideal to be consumed as often as possible so as to minimize the risk of blood clotting.

** Immune Booster**

 

 Pineapple is made up of several antioxidants, phytochemicals and vitamins which all plays key role in boosting the immune system of anybody that consumed the food. Vitamin C is helpful in fighting several heart diseases and antioxidants present in the fruit scavenges free radicals from the body system thereby preventing disease such as cardiovascular diseases, tissue degeneration, cancer and ageing.

Pineapple promotes digestion because it contains dietary fiber in huge amount which helps keep the intestine healthy. Pineapples stands out of the other fruit when it comes to promoting digestion in human body system because it has an enzyme known as bromelain which breaks down protein possibly helping in digestion.

**Prevents Anti-Inflammation**

 

 Bromelian present in pineapple has the capacity to reduce severe inflammation and reduce tumor growth. Several researches have been conducted to confirm the effectiveness of bromelain in treating osteoarthritis. It has also been discovered that bromelain and other proteolytic enzymes increases the survival rates of animals with human tumor but this is yet to be confirm in human.

 Pineapple contains vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, phytochemicals, nutrient and essential nutrients which helps in making the body system to function properly and supplies the body with the need nutritional compound. 

***Pineapple Diet***

  •   Pineapple can be eaten fresh after cutting of the head and the outside covering.
  •  Pineapple can be processed in to another form such as juice and even blended with other fruits to have varieties.  

***Risks**

  •  Pineapple with it high meat tenderizing capacity can result in tenderness of the mouth, lips, tongue and cheeks. 
  • Pineapple has in high quantity vitamin C, if consumed at the extreme side it could lead to diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and heart burn. 
  • High amount of bromelain can cause skin rashes, excessive menstrual bleeding and vomiting.
