The traveling food blog: Salekphet seafood restaurant and resort, Koh Chang, Thailand
We have been staying at this lovely accomodation over the last few days called Salekphet restaurant and resort on the South East side of Koh Chang.
(In the beautiful bay)
Being on a bit of a budget we managed to get a great room tucked away at the back for a great deal. The room is spacious, clean and rather fancy compared to what we have become used to travelling around Asia.
Tonight, after a fantastic kayak around the island, we decided to give the Salekphet restaurant a try as we needed to give our local a break (come back tomorrow for this review).
My favourite is the guy second from the left. He knows what is cutting and is super friendly. He even let us rent his own personal scooter from him!
Being a seafood restaurant we decided on squid! Squid was definitely the theme tonight as by the time our food arrived my partner Pierre and I realised all we had ordered was squid squid and more squid. But what the hell it was delicious! Super fresh and you can taste the freshness!
I decided on curry squid with steamed rice (as can be seen right at the top of the post)
Then on to the chilli paste squid which was my favourite (pretty bummed that this one wasn't my order to be honest! Ha ha but didn't stop me from nabbing a few pieces ;)
And finally the squid with mixed veg. Which came in a light flavorful gravy and was my second favourite.
What we both really enjoyed was how tender all three dishes were and packed full of fresh flavour. We had previously had their seafood eggfried rice on our first evening here as takeout with friends and that too was worthy of a comment (unfortunately I did not get a chance to take a photo. We were famished!)
Salakphet has a great variety of live seafood, from the tented fish infront of the restaurant on the dock to the buckets of crabs and other sea creatures all ensuring you get the freshest seafood on your plate.
This place is truely magical, one gets a feeling of calmness being on the water as the sun sets and birds make their final calls. Salakphet is definitely worth the trip if you are adventuring through to Koh Chang.
As per usual where I can I will post as much of the menu as possible for you to see the selection and price range of each restaurant. Please post in the comment section if you found this post helpful or if you haven dined at this location. Let me know your thoughts :)
