Sunday Morning Food Porn!
Fresh out of our kitchen at Mariano’s! Here are a few pizzas made last night by yours truly:
To begin, we have the Del Sole style, on a traditional pizza napoletana (round pie). Del Sole, translating to “of the sun”, was chosen as this toppings name because of the rich flavor imbued in the sun-kissed tomatoes as they ripen on the vine.
A bed of mozzarella cradles the tomato, fresh basil, garlic, and extra virgin mixture above it.
Here, we have the very same Del Sole topping prepared on our Sicilian style pizza. Unlike many other shops, we have never outsourced our Sicilian shell baking. A lengthy process, often taking up to 12 hours from homemade dough to usable shell, these pizzas are very labor intensive and time consuming to offer.
The final product is jaw-dropping, worthy of the great lengths gone to produce it. It’s crisp exterior houses a melt-in-your-mouth center, contrasting greatly to the thinner, crispier napoletana pie.
Continuing with this style, the final photo illustrates our standard red Sicilian pizza. Like the tray above it, it features all the attributes the Sicilian shell has to offer, only this time with a carefully selected blend of cheeses over our family’s sauce.
Buon appetito!
Let do dinner! Haha!
Love it!
