Apple pie is a timeless dessert that never goes out of style. With its perfect blend of sweet and tart apples and a crispy crust, it’s perfect for any occasion. Here’s an easy recipe for making a delicious homemade apple pie.

Ingredients:
For the crust:
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 125g cold butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoons cold water
For the filling:
- 6 apples (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji)
- 100g sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Juice of half a lemon
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions:
- Prepare the crust: In a large bowl, combine the flour and cold butter cut into small cubes. Use your hands or a fork to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the sugar, salt, and egg, and mix everything together. Gradually add cold water until the dough comes together. Form it into a ball, wrap it in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling: Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin rings. In a large bowl, mix the apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Stir well to coat the apples evenly.
- Assemble the pie: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 3mm thick. Place the dough into a tart pan or pie dish, and trim any excess around the edges.
- Pour the apple filling into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: If you like, you can cover the pie with a lattice crust or simply bake it as is. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
- Cool and serve: Let the pie cool for about 15 minutes before slicing. You can serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for extra flavor.
