Food and Health Awareness | Lychee is the way to Boost your Health
The lychee with the scientific name Litchi chinensis belongs to the family of Aescinaceae, but it is the only member of this genus, which means that it is unique in the world. This is a fruit tree which can grow in hot and subtropical climates and is inherent to China. It smells like a flower, because its unique flavor is often used to scent cocktails and dishes, and if it's not fresh, it'll lose it. This fruit is mainly eaten as dessert in Asian countries and is also increasingly popular in other parts of the world.
Health Benefits of Lychee
Lychee provides many health advantages such as:
Aids in Digestion
Like most fruits and vegetables, the high amount of dietary fiber in lychee helps increase the volume of feces and improves the health of the digestive system.
Boosts Immunity
The most important nutrient present in lychee is vitamin C, and the single dose of lychee exceeds 100% of the daily requirements of ascorbate. Vitamin C is a major antioxidant compound known to stimulate the activity of white blood cells. White blood cells are the main defensive line in the immune system.
Controls Blood Pressure
Lychee is high in potassium, which means it can help your body maintain fluid balance; sodium is also very low, which also helps. Water balance is not only an integral part of the metabolic function but also an integral part of hypertension.
Anti-Influenza
This powerful phenolic compound found in lychee has been associated with many important health benefits, including anti-influenza activity. It also shows considerable antioxidant capacity, as do ascorbic acid and other procyanidins in lychee.
Improves Blood Circulation
Copper is another important mineral found in litchi. Although iron is usually associated with red blood cells, copper is also an integral part of red blood cells.

The chinese culture prefers longan over lychee has lychee tends to be more heaty if eaten in excessive. It's still good nonetheless!
I am always looking for foods that are high in potassium. The problem is we need over 4700mg of potassium a day, that's like 12-13 avocados a day and 100g of avocado has 4x the amount of potassium as lychee, and lychee has half the potassium as banana which bothers me when people say have a banana for potassium lol no, I will not eat 20 bananas lol but thanks for the info I will look for lychee one day
