Making Banana Bread 🍌🍞
Hello!
I'm not really much of a baker, but this year I really want to push myself to bake more often and try new things!
I also find it really fun to bake with my partner because we get to share what we make afterwards, and we love having little treats. It also makes sharing the load of the washing up after feel a lot lighter, lol.
I've been really wanting either a carrot cake or a banana cake recently, so we ended up gathering ingredients and looking for a banana cake recipe instead because it seemed a bit easier for us!
We used this recipe for our bake.
Also, I once again used Canva to make the slides/image compositions for this post.
The recipe I used asked for the following ingredients:
140g of softened butter,
140g of caster sugar- but I used brown sugar instead,
2 beaten eggs,
140g of self raising flour,
1 teaspoon of baking powder,
2 mashed bananas,
and I added some shaved bits of cooking chocolate!
After preparing and gathering our ingredients, I mixed the sugar and butter to a creamier texture and then added 2 beaten eggs gradually as I continued to mix, to ensure I combined the ingredients well.
I had only just started the recipe but was concerned because it looked a bit weird... I guess I don't bake enough though because adding and mixing in the flour made it look more normal, silly me!
After mixing in the flour and checking for any flour lumps in the mixture, I added the mashed bananas and some shaved bits of cooking chocolate to the batter- and mixed them in!
I poured the mixture into a baking tin which had some crumpled up baking paper lining the base to avoid any of the cake getting stuck to the tin during the baking process.
I then put the banana bread into the oven for 30 minutes, at 160c (as we have a fan oven)! The full baking time the recipe suggests is 50 minutes, but at the 30 minute mark it tells you to check every 5 minutes until you've reached the total of 50 minutes- so I did just that!
I'm so happy with how it turned out, it was so delicious! I gave some to my family and they also really enjoyed it too.
I've never been a very confident baker, hence why it's not something I do that often, but baking this banana bread has made me want to make more!
What sort of things do you like to bake? Do you have any recommendations for me to try out? Let me know!
Thank you for reading!
The banana cake looks delicious @artskills. I look forward to seeing what else you make.
Thank you, flowertron! I have plans to do more baking soon!
