Ramen With Kakuni...Just look at that thick slice of Bacon. Melts in your mouth!

I was somewhere around Susukino (Sapporo, Japan) slipping and slipping across frosted concrete when the hunger kicked in. As I strolled past random strangers, I can not help but notice their thick and winter boots.

They're curiously staring at me in my thin summer sneakers as if to say: "Hey moron, it's winter and there's a blizzard out.

My feet were numb and riddled with frostbite, it felt like a thousand needles were fired at every exposed skin in my body. Through the discomfort and pain. All I can think about is Ramen!

Shio Ramen

My affair with Ramen began during my school years. I would decorate and garnish store bought ready made Ramen with heaps of vegetable toppings with a random choice of protein.

I reasoned that topping the sodium and saturated fat rich junk food would be negated by the nutrient-rich veggie toppings. Fast forward a couple of years later, I'm still waiting for a heart attack and can now afford my next holiday to Japan.I have also graduated to real Ramen and became somewhat of a connoisseur.

Ramen Alley in Sapporo, Japan

It's no accident I found this place, it came as a recommendation from the hostel I stayed at in the Red Light district. I know what you are thinking. Just what the hell are you doing there Adonis? Allow me to explain fellow Steemians. By sheer accident I came by this place, it was the cheapest one I could find, I swear, no funny business!

Raumen Yokocho

Sapporo Ramen Yokocho or simply known as Ramen Alley is a famous spot in Susukino. It is the birthplace of Miso Ramen (my favorite) and here the cream of the crop rises to the top....or better yet a terminator, like Arnold Schwarzenegger. The creamy broth will Terminate your cold and dreary day.

The ground zero, the base where each Ramen bowl defines itself is the broth, along with the rich creamy broth of Miso Ramen is so yummy it will leave you licking every last drop from the own bowl.

Ramen With Abalone

Topped with slightly fatty pieces of melt-in-your-mouth slow roasted pork belly with absolutely boiled soft yolk egg? You've got yourself a Ramen bowl made in heaven. Ramen so great it melted the frostbite from my frozen toes. I could eat Ramen at each meal for a month here in Sapporo rather than run into to the identical Ramen shop.

They are scattered throughout the city but there is several packed from the Ramen street and it behooves to pay it a visit if your journeys take you to Sapporo.

Shoyu Ramen with Seafood

If Miso Ramen is not down your alley, don't despair! There are loads of Ramen options in each store and some will specialize in particular ones. There is Tsuke-Men, Shio, Shoyu, Tonkotsu, and Wakayama -- you've got many Ramen to serve your appetite so slurp your noodles off!

Ramen street reaches Chuo-ku, Sapporo 064-0808, Hokkaido, Japan. By train Take the Nanboku line to Susukino Station. From there it's only a 2-minute walk south and to your left
