Aari's quick Hotsauce review: El Yucateco Black & Kutbil-ik Mayan Style

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Recently I've started getting into trying hotter and hotter sauces. This week I decided to try 2 flavors from the El Yucateco line of hot sauces. These sauces have been featured on several spicy challenge shows such as the Hot Ones series by Youtube's First We Feast.

The first flavor I tried was the Black Label Reserve Chile Habanero. A deep smokey flavor that goes great with meats. Color is a very dark brown to black and is a high viscosity sauce. The sauce is good directly on food but is even better when cooked with. Heat comes in at about 11k Scoville.

The second flavor I tried was the XXXtra Hot Kutbil-ik Mayan Style Chile Habanero. A deliciously bold flavor with hints smoke. Fantastic on all sorts of foods with a decent amount of slow heat. It has a deep earthy color and is a thicker sauce. This is now one of my favorite sauces. Heat comes in at almost 12k Scoville.

I love Habanero sauces! Ghost pepper is too smokey and capsaicin saturated for me.
