What is Bulking? A Beginner's Guide on How to Bulk and Why.

in #fitness7 years ago

The end goal of bulking is to build muscle, gain weight, increase strength, or all of the above.

During bulking, a caloric surplus is present, meaning that you are intaking more calories than you are burning.

To start off, I recommend that you calculate your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) and your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) using this website: https://www.iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

What is BMR? Your basal metabolic rate is the number of calories your body burns at rest, with zero activity.

What is TDEE? TDEE is the amount of calories your body burns daily working, sleeping, playing and exercising.

To bulk up and start gaining muscle/weight, you need to add around 250 to 500 calories to your TDEE and make that your daily caloric intake goal.

Remember, a good diet is just a part of proper bodybuilding, you need to perform the right exercises too!
