#AttitudeOfGratitude - Friends Are LIFE
I woke up feeling thankful this morning, for a lot of things. I often do, because I regularly find myself with nice moments over the course of my morning to reflect on all the things that make me happy and make my life feel full and complete :)
But sometimes I like to focus a little extra on one particular thing. And today, it's my friends.
Whether old or new, friends are what make life feel extra fun, warm, and joyful. I don't know what I'd do without them!
I'm super excited because Chris and I will be spending today with one of my oldest friends (we've known each other for like 25 years) who I just absolutely love. We grew up side by side and have stayed close throughout, even when we lived far apart through high school and college. She will be my maid of honor in our wedding, and Chris just adores her. Plus, she is interested and involved in a lot of things that we are excited to learn about, so we always have fascinating conversations with her even beyond the regular, hilarious, day-to-day stuff :) she's incredibly smart, resourceful, artistic, you name it... I am SO lucky to have her in my life, and I know Chris feels the same way. Plus, today Chris is meeting her boyfriend for the first time, which will be fun!
Also, last night we went to dinner on a double date with some new friends we've just recently met... They're from North Carolina, and they just moved to Santa Barbara but brought their cute southern accents with them! We are all interested in health and fitness, are family-oriented, and love to enjoy activities outdoors, so we found we had a lot in common. They're newly married and we're about to tie the knot, and they've just traveled to the places we most want to go :) Most importantly, they are just good people. It can be hard to find friends like that sometimes, so we're happy to have connected with them!
Lastly, every week on Sunday I have a planned phone call with one of my dearest friends from college - we chat just to catch up and stay connected, and every time we're on the phone we find ourselves smiling and laughing so much! She has a son who is about a year old and is just adorable, and she's a badass working mom who makes time to stay fit and healthy and take care of her family, all while balancing a demanding full time job. She is one of the most kind-hearted, caring, thoughtful, and beautiful people, inside and out, that I've ever known. And she has a killer sense of humor and has me in stitches every time! Being in her presence or even just hearing her voice is like medicine - I always feel fortified after :)
This has been, and will continue to be, a great weekend for friend love. We will also be celebrating one of my all-time favorite friend's birthdays this week, as we do every year with a special dinner, and it's one of my favorite traditions... So I look forward to continuing the happy vibes into the coming days!
So I know this isn't fitness related, but I believe it is 100% health-related. Having these kinds of positive, loving, supportive interactions are what help keep me feeling my best :)
I believe that we can't have true physical health without mental and emotional health, so make sure to connect with the people you love the most and soak up the benefits - make sure you're giving out some benefits too, while you're at it!
