Every law comes with the threat of government force.
If anybody disagrees with me on anything, I'm always going to try my best to engage with any of you in good faith.
I'm not going to pull an appeal to authority fallacy on you. If I do, call me out. I especially don't want to appeal to my own authority in a debate.
Nonetheless, there's such a thing as putting in the work.
When it comes to the First and Second Amendments, I think that I can safely assert that I've spent more time, money, and resources educating myself on those subjects than most of my opponents.
In regard to the First Amendment, it seems that most of my opponents don't even think that there's reading material that's important or influential. It's, "Just your opinion, man." I've yet to encounter a single opponent, in more than ten years, who could quote anything that Frederick Douglass ever said. Most of them don't know that Charb wrote a book just before he was murdered. Most of them haven't heard of the book The Tyranny of Silence, much less read it. When Defending My Enemy wasn't a book that was gonna cost me more than a new gun, I was offering to buy it for my opponents -- they all declined.
In regard to the Second Amendment, I'm absolutely confident that I've spent more time, money, and resources educating myself than any opponent I've ever had.
Joe Biden probably makes more money in a day than I make in a year. He wants to throw people in jail over gun policies. Kamala Harris is worse than him.
I don't believe for a second that they've ever put a bullet through a block of ballistics gel. A block of ballistics gel costs over a hundred dollars. For most of us, that's a consideration. For Biden and Harris, that's the change they found in their couches.
So... willfully ignorant?
There are definitely a lot of people on earth who know more about guns than I do, and have spent more time and money and energy learning about guns than I have. Still, I've spent time and money and energy learning from those people.
Just understand that there are things to know about these issues. It's not, "Just your opinion, man."
People are going to prison over ignorance. There are people making laws who have never read a damn book relevant to these issues. There are people advocating for "hate speech" laws who couldn't tell you who John Milton was. There are people pushing for gun bans who couldn't tell you the difference between a .223 and a 7.62.
All of this is threatening human freedom. Every law comes with the threat of government force.
So, forgive me if I'm short with some people on these issues.
There are people who have spent more time, money, and energy on these issues than I have.
You're probably not one of them.
To reiterate, I'll take any challenge in good faith. I have blind spots like everybody else. There are probably millions of books that I haven't read.
Just understand that, on these issues, I've spent time, money, and resources in order to understand what the hell I'm talking about.
So, if you're talking out of your ass -- I'm gonna notice it.
