RE: two kinds of film and a pear orchard
Film! Good for you, @sloe. I enjoyed your compositions and minute control of depth of field. I still have several film cameras but haven't shot film in years. Is there a processor in your area? Do you scan from negatives or prints? I'm out of touch with the film world.
It's been a blast getting back into it. I heavily urge you to make a go with some film again Nick. Who doesn't want the feeling of falling in love again? Curious if your experience would feel the same as mine.
Plus, you are surrounded by red earth (I learned to shoot film in az) and moon-like landscapes which scream chrome film yeah?
Nelson Photo Supplies in San Diego gets all of my film business. I used to work there when I was in grad school so I can tell you that the woman that runs the lab is an NAU alum and she is a superhero to me!
I FedEx them my film and they develop, scan and ship right back. I order all of my color/slide film from them too because I know they take care of it. It's refrigerated 24/7.
I have used lots of other labs but none compare. Had a bad experience in SF where they sent me back individually cut 120 negs. Who does that? Who leaves little orphaned images for me to store? Nelson's returns them to me uncut, rolled in cardboard tubes. I love that.
