Creating A Stronger Community: A 'Curation Trail' Discord For #Film and #Movies
Some may remember a long time ago before I had this delegation that I attempted to launch a Discord channel with the purpose of encouraging and creating a more connected community within the #film and #movies tags, but ultimately it wasn't the right time to do so and it failed.
Looking back, it failed for a number of reasons: the #film and #movies tags weren't too popular, Discord channels weren't too popular, I didn't have a large following or outreach as a result of my own poor networking, and I didn't have any incentives to even encourage people to just resteem or join the server. A few people did join, but it was a select group of people, and many were quite busy with their own things going on in life and the server just struggled to get up off its feet.
Recently I've been thinking of other ways I could make a positive impact outside of curation, and I do have a few ideas that I'm slowly contemplating and working on, and the reboot of that Discord has not been one of them. I was tagged in a post by @serialfiller about the want to connect more with others in these tags and encourage more community curation and connectivity. It's something I definitely agree with, and I noticed there were quite a few posts expressing their interest in joining something just like that. So here we are.
The Discord server is back, and hopefully here to stay this time! It already has a few people that have joined, but it still needs a bigger boost in the form of posts just like these to spread its awareness. While the server is only a few days old, it is a little basic, but we have already started to discuss potential ideas regarding this little project. The same little rules apply as the former server I created:
- Community is the focus, not anyone else's gains from it.
- This project isn't mine, but instead a community-led project that over time will improve with the distribution of power on the server itself. This means I don't want to be a single admin in control of everything.
- You're free to join if you have no interest in curation, but instead want to discuss the world of films and television shows with other Steem posters.
- Contributing to the searching of/upvoting of accepted upvote-worthy content by the community is not mandatory, of course.
These may change and improve with better additions of rules and such over time, but that's essentially where we are now. This server is for filmmakers, film fans, film reviewers, and those interested in discussing and curating the posts that fall within those. The link to join is: https://discord.gg/PpVu8Cw.
To encourage raising awareness of the server, feel free to use that very link above in your own post about its creation. If you tag me in the post, I'll be sure to upvote it. Alternatively you could just resteem this, but then you'd just miss out on your own rewards.
I'm in. Not usually very active on Discord, but there's no way I'm missing out on the community.
Let's give it another try. I'm up for it. Thanks for not giving up on this buddy
We need people like you on the platform :>)
Nice dude, great idea. I am not on the discord, but I will look into how to join. I want to discuss the new Sonic The Hedgehog Movie that has had its date pushed back due to the freak not Sonic they had in the trailer! I'm a massive Sonic fan since a kid in the early 90s, so they have to get Sonic right for me! :D
I am in of course.
I Hope we could find the best formula to grow up

This is a great idea, a place where you can discuss movies, TV series, it's something that doesn't exist in Discord, I'm already on that channel and I hope to share my post with this new community.
This is a very good idea, @namiks! I'm going to join the discord group as soon as possible!
By the way, I'm trying to make the #movies #films tags gain strength (and also interaction among members) with the launch of a new contest... Have you seen it?
Could you help me?
CHALLENGE: SHARE YOUR MOVIE (# 01) - MEMORIES OF A CHILDHOOD.
Do you accept also italian post?
Yes, @serialfiller.
I publish posts in Portuguese, English and Spanish because they are the most used languages here (Steemit). But publications in any language are accepted ... And the deadline to this edition is until the end of this friday (today).
