Ghost in the Shell is based on Masamune Shirow's Japanese comic series of the same name, starring Scarlett Johansson (as Mira Killian / Motoko Kusanagi). The film was rated as one of Hollywood's biggest losers when it grossed $ 169.8 million while its production budget was $ 110 million.
