AQUAMAN [2019] - FILM REVIEW

in #film6 years ago

#Popcorn (salty or sweety, is up to you), couch, punctured socks on the table, cola and you are ready to go. And since you are in this mood you need a proper movie, and this is where #AQUAMAN comes into account.

The last effort from DC with the gigantic #JasonMomoa has not passed unobserved since it raised up more than 1B $ where 300mln comes from China ! I guess Momoa will be enormously pleased by this result even if the first and only appearence as #Aquaman was in «Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice» but just for a bunch of minutes, and a movie with him as starring is an enormous boost for his career.

The movie, comprehend in the cast some of the most influencial actor currently on Hollywood, such as the evergreen and ever-gorgeous Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and also the recently nominated best male role William Dafoè, so, even if the movie appears a bit kitch we at least have a bunch of experienced actors who might entertain us smoothly.

So the movie, timed nowadays, sees Arthur - the son of Alanta, the queen of the seas and a terrestrial man - as an hybrid creature which can both normally live inside and outside water and that has some ocean based superpowers such as enormous strength and the capability of communicating with marine creatures. He will fight several different villains before being proclamed.... nothing, anyway, the movie is an experience in IMAX or 4K since it strongly leverage CGI, colors and underwater landscapes, but, unfortunately, as always happens with movies like this, the plot might result kinda boring.

Unbreakable heroes who take care of the whole world punching almost everyone and healing himself from wounds. Classic, nothing more nothing less.

It does not matter if he holds up an hammer or a trident, the important thing is that this must be forged from Gods/Lava from heart's nucleo or with moon rocks. Hairs, needs to be long and color faded, if they weren't always fighting i would have said they had a coieffeur on their right side.

Anyway, scenarios are MAGNIFICENT! The movie has been filmed all around the world, from Italy to New Zaeland and looks like they even mashed up three cities to replicate an ancient italian town!

The closet man Momoa needs to fight against several characters in the movie, some for revenge or for envy, and he will be constrained to face a choice between save the underwater world or save the human world where he currently has been raised. A series of events, challanges, encounters and strange characters will populate the movie scene by scene but the result is not boring and the viewer reach the end of the movie pretty easily and smoothly

As a matter of fact this movie can be easily indicated for families and children due to the spectacular action scenes and the total absence of bad words !

Honestly, in some scenes it reminds me a bit Wolverine but i guess that at DC studios are running low on fantasy and characters screenwriters!

War scenes are also great, even if, honestly, i'm a little bit bored by these since i've seen them so many times that they ended up for being always the same and you just focus on "Which kind of new creatures did they created this time?"

Closing, despite all this is a good movie, a two hour and half well spent with family with something spectacular can really help in relaxing from a tough week, so embrace yourself and as always...

Enjoy !!
