Gary Oldman in the Darkest Hour was one of his best performances ever.
Oscar season has started with a bang this year with many releases in cinemas that fighting hard to stake a claim for the prestigious award. First up we have, The Darkest Hour.
The tale of a country faced with the imminent threat of war, and with no leader brave enough to stand up and fight, Winston Churchill takes the position with much opposition. And take it he does.
Gary Oldman's portrayal of this Historical figure is something to be marvelled at. Everything down to the slight mannerisms, see a full transformation and you would be hard pressed to see any glimmer of Oldman on screen even despite all those prosthetics. And it's not just Oldman that knocks it out of the park. The supporting cast in The Darkest Hour pull there weight equally to present viewing caviar all-round.
My only negative remark regarding the movie is the length. It could have easily taken a 20min cut overall but that aside I highly recommend seeing this movie.
