We see a small blue and white house on a cornfield. A 1950's automobile pulls up. A man in a suit gets out and knocks on the door. Jenna Dean (26) opens the door. She's a fair brunette.

                JENNA DEAN
    Hello, Can I help you?
                MAN
Hi, ma'm. Are you the owner of this house?
                JENNA DEAN
Yes, I'm the owner. Well it's my husband and I's.
                MAN
I work for the United States Federal Government.
                JENNA DEAN
May I ask why you're here?

                MAN
Lovely home. I just wanted to have a word with you regarding some of the property.
                JENNA DEAN
Why thank you. The house belonged to my grandmother Gretchen Lewis.
INT. LEWIS FARM HOUSE- DAY

The man is now seated on the couch. Jenna goes into the kitchen.

                JENNA DEAN
Would you care for a drink? I've got coffee and lemonade.
                MAN
A coffee would be great. Anyway, Mrs. uh.
                JENNA DEAN
    Dean. Mrs. Dean.
                MAN
Nice to meet you Mrs. Dean, is your husband around?
                JENNA DEAN
No, he's at work. How would you like your coffee?
                MAN
Black please. Anyway, Mrs. Dean, we're interested in purchasing some acreage around your home. We could offer a hefty sum.
                JENNA DEAN
Oh I don't know. I'll have to talk it over with some family members and my husband.

                MAN
Alright, well I'll leave my card and you can contact us once you've given it some thought. Let us know your price.
EXT. NEWTON, IOWA FARM HOUSE- DAY

The man is leaving the farm house. Jenna Dean is showing him out.

                MAN
Alright, Mrs. Dean. Thanks for your time. Say where's there a good place to get food around here?
                JENNA DEAN
Go to the diner in town. About 30 miles down the road. They got a great apple pie.
                MAN
Sounds good. Have a good day.
EXT. NEWTON, IOWA TOWN- DAY

Mrs. Dean is smoking a cigarette and driving a 1950's car. She pulls into a grocery store parking lot. She exits her car and enters the grocery store.

INT. GROCERY STORE- DAY

Jenna Dean has her purse and grocery shopping basket. She's in the bread aisle. A guy in a suit peaks across the aisle. Jenna Dean glances at him. A woman with a cart happens to notice Jenna. Her name is Mary.

                MARY
    Jenna Dean! How are you?
                JENNA DEAN
Hey I'm good! How are the kids?
                MARY
Oh they're rowdy. I been trying to keep em out of trouble.
Jenna Dean spaces out and notices the man looking at her suspiciously.

EXT. NEWTON, IOWA FARM HOUSE- DAY

The man from the top of the script pulls back into the driveway. He gets out and looks around. He takes out a strange apparatus and a needle across a meter begins fluctuating. He gets back in his car and drives off.

EXT. DIRT ROAD- DAY

Michael Dean (29) is driving his truck down a dirt road. He is smoking a cigarette. The truck starts to break down. He pulls over.

                MICHAEL
    Just my luck.
Michael gets out and pops the hood.

INT. FARM HOUSE KITCHEN- EVENING

Jenna Dean is in the kitchen making dinner. She looks at the clock.

                JENNA DEAN
    That's odd.

Michael walks in.

                MICHAEL
    Honey, I'm home.

                JENNA DEAN
What took ya so long? You and the boys go to the pool hall again?

                MICHAEL
No the truck broke down. I'm gonna need to borrow your car tomorrow while I get it fixed.

                JENNA DEAN
Alright, that's fine. How was work?

                MICHAEL
Work was work. The foreman was getting on my case about a couple of things but that's to be expected.

                JENNA DEAN
Oh well. You want a brisket?

                MICHAEL
Sure do. Hey why don't we go to the movies this weekend?

                JENNA DEAN
That sounds delightful. It's supposed to be a full moon this weekend.

                MICHAEL
    Even better.

                JENNA DEAN
Oh honey I forgot to mention. Some man dropped by the house earlier saying he was with the government. He was wondering if we had any land for sale.

                MICHAEL
Land for sale? Hmmm... I mean I guess we could free up a few acreages. What'd he say it was for?

                JENNA DEAN
I'm not sure. I think some sort of research project or something. I mean we could sure use the money.

                MICHAEL
Well, since it's the government. I'd say we could make a pretty good penny but it's up to you at the end of the day honey. I wouldn't want to impose on your family's business.

                JENNA DEAN
    Thanks Michael. I love you.

                MICHAEL
    Love you too, honey.
INT. BEDROOM- NIGHT

Michael and Jenna are laying in bed asleep. There's a bright moon shining through their window with a view of the cornfields.

                JENNA DEAN
    I can't sleep.

                MICHAEL
    How about some coffee?
