Planar Expedition - Fantasy Story - Part 4 - Eleya - Part 4
Eleya looked up at the high peaks of the Haymor Mountains. They no longer felt threatening. Rather, the mountains had become home to her. It was a lonely home at times—her skill with magic pleased the Council of the Gray, but made her peers wary and resentful of her—but a familiar and comforting one.
Strange… When she first arrived, she missed her home so much, and now she’d spent more time with the Council than she had there.
Maybe that was what made her reluctant to leave. Eleya stared at the peaks as though they might give her answers. Every night, she thought about her family. Not Alwin, although she associated “family” with him most frequently, but her original family. The mother and father who believed she’d have a better life with the Council of the Gray. Any brothers or sisters she might have gained since she left. Grandparents? Cousins? She couldn’t remember anything beyond a glimpse of her parents’ faces.
And yet, even though she could have left the Haymor Mountains long ago and searched for clues about her family, she always chose not to. Why?
“Is something troubling you?”
Alwin’s voice made her jump. She turned to face her mentor and shook her head. “No. I was just thinking.”
The Frey Elf nodded, although a hint of doubt glimmered in his eyes. “You can always talk to me.”
“I know.”

Author's note: What is Planar Expedition? Planar Expedition is a fantasy tabletop board game that was created by me over the course of three years and I never published it. Just about all of the artwork is done, and the majority of the story is complete. It is too great of a story to not tell though...
